Sorin shook his head. "No… no need," he said, his voice muffled.

Cas's tail hung low, the tip dragging on the ground as he purred weakly. "I love you…"

"I love you too," there was a slight edge in his voice. "So much."

"Are you okay?" Cas suddenly realized there was blood on his own lips and touched them, his fingers coming away with a bit of blood on them. "Is this mine…?"

"No… it's mine." Sorin still didn't move from him.

Cas went pale. "Oh my god…" He whispered. "D-Did I hurt you?!"

Sorin shook his head and drew his head back from his neck. "No, sweetie," he moved a few strands of hair from his eyes. "you could never. I did this."

"How? Or, more pertinently, why?" Cas looked up at Sorin.

"To heal you. You didn't exactly look so good…" He brushed his nose against his.

"…Your blood heals me?" Cas brushed the blood from his lip.

"It can, yes. But I don't really think it's safe to use all the time."

"Well, hopefully not." Cas said simply. "I don't plan on drinking your blood any time soon."

Sorin chuckled lightly and glanced at the basement door. "The noise stopped." He narrowed his eyes on it. "It's probably safer to stay here for a bit longer, though."

Cas nodded and sat down, still feeling a bit dizzy. "What do you think it was?"

"Berenice, for sure." He sighed and looked at Cas. "Those were her shadows that broke the streetlights outside."

"She can control shadows?" Cas asked nervously, glancing back at his own shadow as though he expected it to attack him.

Sorin smiled. "No, Cas. Well, nobody else's… at least, I don't think so…" He looked at his own shadow then shook his head. "No. Definitely not."

Cas sighed in relief. "Thank god… that could end poorly for us."

"Oh yeah," Sorin nodded with a smile on his face. "Definitely."

Cas purred softly and leaned against Sorin. "How long do we stay down here?"

"'Till i'm sure it's safe." Sorin wrapped an arm around him.

"How can we be sure if we can't see outside?"

Sorin shrugged. "I can check while you stay here."

"I don't want you to go alone…" Cas looked up at him nervously.

"Yeah, well, I don't want you to go up there with me and risk getting hurt… again."

"But what if you get hurt?" Cas asked, huffing. "Your wellbeing is important too, you know."

"Cas, i'll be fine," He caressed his cheek and kissed his temple. "Nothing to worry about."

"…Nothing you say is going to make me stop worrying, love." Cas sighed. "Just be really really quick."

"I will," he pecked his lips before heading up the stairs. Sorin opened the door and closed it to prevent her from hurting Cas– in case she was still here. He scanned the area, then the window. Everything looked good, so far.

"Is it clear?" Cas called up, staying seated.
