Eric smiled, talking a bite of his own.
Time After Time (One on One) {OPEN}
“Okay.” She said through a mouthful. “You want to help Kathleen before either of us, right?”
He nodded silently.
“Reminder that we don’t even know when our dates are. It could be tomorrow. Or…later today.”
"I know." He muttered, shaking his head.
“So…you wanna do Kathleen. Okay. So I was thinking.” She cleared her throat. “If they took stuff from her…we have to put it back…and cut them off.”
"…What?" He asked, blinking.
“Like I said. They took stuff from her. DNA souls, or whatever you said. They might be destroying whatever part of it they have soon. So, we need to get it, return it to her, and cut them off from her.” She let out a breath, looking up at him from under her eyelashes. “In four days.”
"Okay." He said, nodding.
“So,” She said, finishing her roll and going back to the briefcase, “We have to figure out what everything is before anything else.”
Eric nodded. "Let's get to it!"
“Good.” Lulu smiled before climbing back onto the bed, rifling through some more folders.
Eric smiled slightly, turning to the papers.
“There’s a drawing on one. It looks like the stuff in the bottle, but it’s blurry.” She said after a while of silence. “Like…like the pictures on social studies tests.”
"Why does that make sense?" He muttered, looking over her shoulder.
“It should,” She said with a smile, turning to face him. “There’s an alchemy thing on here. Know it?”
Eric looked at it, squinting. "…No." He admitted, shaking his head.
“It’s…there’s a heading for it that says ‘soul chromosome y’, but I don’t know what to do with that.” She shrugged.
"Y chromosome is the one guys get, right?" He asked, looking down. "I kinda failed biology."
"I think, so, yeah. It's the dominant one for guys. Which is probably why it isn't the color as her…aura, or something," Lulu told him, glancing over to him with a small smile. "I hated biology too. The x chromosome might be in the other briefcase or something. We need it back."
Eric nodded. "Okay, so how would we get it back?"
"Go back to the branch, probably. They might have the briefcase there." She grabbed his shoulder and turned him towards her. "You…you might get hurt again, though. More than last time."
"I'll be fine." He said, seriously. "Promise."
She sighed and nodded. "Fine. When do you want to go?"
"When are you free?" He asked, smiling softly.
Lulu returned the smile, hers a little lopsided. "Now."
"Let's go." He said, standing up and offering her a hand.
Lulu took it, nodding and coming to her feet. "Should we take anything?"
"Don't think I have much that'll help us." He said, shrugging. "Maybe a few books?"
"For what? Throwing at them?" She joked, a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
