"Wow." He put the jar down beside into his lap, his face got serious but kind. "Thankyou for helping me." He said genuinely, looking her in the eyes. He probably would have died if it wasn't for her help.
Touch The Sky//One-On-One//Closed
A light blush appeared on her cheeks and she nodded, smiling as she did, "You're welcome, tell me if you need anything else." She rolled onto her back and looked up at the stars, counting them one at a time and naming the ones she knew by heart.
Keiran took the medicines, hoping they would kick in soon before leaning back on his elbows and joining Nautia in her star gazing.
(Sorry I have work today so I probably won't be on much)
(it's fine)
"Do people like you look at the stars?" She asked, turning to glance at him before gazing back at the sky.
"Some but not all, everyone has their own wags of navigation whether it be the sun or landmarks or pure intuition but I personally use the stars to navigate." He explained, thinking of people he knew who travelled and shared their tips on navigation with him.
Nautia nodded, "That sounds amazing," She smiled softly and looked over at him again, "Do they ever just go out and stargaze for fun? When they're not flying?" Her tail slapped against the water softly and she ignored it, completely used to that.
"Again not everyone, most people enjoy the sunny weather during the day but I've always prefered the nighttime." He answered. "What about you? Do lots of your people stargaze or what do they do for fun?" He asked curiously, Keiran had heard few tales of mermaids when he was young but be never thought they were real.
She shook her head, "I'm one of the very few that actually are interested in the world beside out own, most of the others are perfectally content with never seeing the stars or the sunrise." She looked at the dark ocean and then back at Keiran, "Some make a sport out of trying to swim with agitated sharks, others devote their lives to cataloging every new species that that find in the Deep Trench. It's really just whatever you want to do within reason, some people have tried to pass as humans and see if the Loch Ness Monster is real, those people are the ones that you usually never see again."
"I guess whatever makes them happy, everyone should be allowed to do what they want as long as it's not hurting anyone else."
Nauta nodded, "I agree, though there has to be a limit somewhere, like not talking or associating with humans. That rule is there to keep the ocean and its inhabitants safe." She scanned the sky and sighed, "But rules like that can also be stupid, like you can't change into your human form if you're in the open or even anywhere that you could be caught."
He stopped and thought for a moment before speaking. "I mean rules to keep you safe makes sense but too much of anything can be a bad thing, most people learn by doing. You can tell someone it hurts to break their arm and to be careful but they most likley won't pay it much mind until it happens to them." Keiran answered. (Sorry I haven't been on, blame my procrastination of school work on that XD)
(XD I can relate, you're good)
"That's true..I don't understand how some people are content with a life like that though, following every single rule and not wondering once if there's something else to discover or if there's more than just life in the ocean." She shook her head and frowned, "The rules do keep us safe, but they're taking away our freedom at the same time."
"That I do agree with, everyone should be allowed their freedom and to choose whatever they want to do with their lives." He stopped and sighed. "I guess I'm lucky that my village let us have the chance to go and learn for ourselves."
Nautia looked over at him and nodded, "That would be nice, I would be able to leave if I wanted to and explore on my own.." She sighed and turned her attention back to the stars, "What's your village like?"
"It's a pretty quiet village for the most part, theres a decent ammount of people but it's still fairly small. We don't have a king or queen though we have a village head or cheif thats in charge." He explained trying to think of the main points about the village he grew up in.
"It sounds like a nice place to grow up in." She said, glancing over at him again, "What's the food like? Are people like you allergic to certain foods?"
"It is, me and my cousin used to get into so much trouble when we were kids." He smiled lightly at the memory. "Well everyone has their own preferences of course but mostly meat, fruit, veggies and other grown things. My personal favorite is fruit, some people have allergies but not all. Personally I'm allergic to raspberries." He answered and then thought for a moment, furrowing his eyebrows slightly. "What so you guys eat?"
She thought for a moment, "Mostly fish, thought there are a few plants that grow near the shores that we eat as well. Other than that, we can occasionally catch a bird or two and those are quite expensive, but because of the variety of fish it's most of out diet."
"Oh neat, we don't eat fish much since…well as you saw we aren't the greatest swimmers." Keiran laughed lightly.
She chuckled and looked over at him, her tail swishing softly in the water, "Be lucky for that, fish gets bland and boring after eating it your whole life."
He laughed lightly "Yeah thats fair, mayne I can bring you some fruit sometime." He offered
Her face lit up, "Could you? It sounds amazing." She rolled onto her stomach and looked up at him, "What does fruit taste like anyway?"
He sat up to look at her "Of course! It kind of depends on what kind of fruit it is, most of them are juicy. My personal favourite is green apples, they're tart and a bit sour but theres also things like peaches which are sweet and oranges which are really juicy and sweet as well." He explained
She smiled, "Peaches sound really good, along with oranges. I love sweet foods." As she was talking she realized that she was becoming very attached to Kieran even thought she had just met him. They shared a lot of common ideas and passions and she loved meeting someone who shared her love for discovering new things.
He smiled a lopsided grin back "I'll see if I can find any once my wing gets better." He answered, he couldn't believe that they had only met today, he felt so comfortable talking with her for some reason.
Nautia nodded and rolled back onto her back with a smile, "Alright, do people like you need a lot of sleep?" She asked, knowing that there wasn't much time in the night left, "Because I can leave you alone if you want to get some rest,"
"Yeah your probably right" he answered a bit somberly. "We don't sleep as much since we have to be prepared for potentially flying through the night if theres no where to land but we do have to sleep eventually."
"I can leave then if you want to get some rest." She said, slipping a little further into the water and glancing at him, "People like us don't usually sleep a lot, usually only a few hours can keep us going for a few days. One of the perks of having to travel around the world to get places."
"Yeah we generally don't sleep for days at a time either but I haven't slept in a while, I was going to rest last night but that didn't go so well." He answered, looking out over the water before looking back at Nautia. "Will I see you tomorrow?" He asked with a gentle smile.
"If you want to," she said with the same gentle smile, "I can come
back, unless you're tired of my company." She chuckled lightly and slipped a little further into the water.
