Theodosia nods her head. “Yes, it should be.” At the very least, she’ll be entertained for a few hours. “Tell me about yourself, Miguel. We don’t get a chance to talk very much.”
Victorian Era Romance (O/O Open)
Miguel gave an awkward smile, "Well, m'lady, I'm afraid that there isn't too much about me to tell." He focused on bright array of tulips to the left.
Theodosia raises her brows but doesn’t push the subject. She understands if he doesn’t feel comfortable talking about himself. Turning her attention back to the street, she surveys the people around them.
Miguel kept quiet for a few minutes studying the people and scenery. His hands were neatly folded behind his back, a trait he had picked up from his time working here. A gentle breeze blew past causing the flowers to sway and the leaves to rustle. It was nice, peaceful, quiet, relaxed.
“Theodosia!” A young woman with short blond hair calls out as she hurries to cross the street. A young boy is being dragged along behind her and there’s a baby on her hip. “Oh, hello, Elizabeth,” Theodosia greets with a polite smile. The two have been friends for years and actually got married within just a couple of months of each other. “Did you finally get your husband to agree to having tea with us?” Elizabeth gets straight to the point. The blonde nods her head. “Yes, I managed to convince Richard that it would be nice.” The two woman chat for a few minutes before Elizabeth notices the time and has to hurry off.
Miguel stood back while conversation went on, patiently waiting as he looked around some more. When Theodosia was done, he spoke, "Two kids as I see, very nice. Will you and Master Richard be expecting a child anytime soon?"
Theodosia glances down when she feels a set of small paws pressing against her dress. With an adoring smile, she bends down and pick Addie up, carefully cradling the dog in her arms. A blush creeps onto her face at the question. “Perhaps. Richard wants to have a child.”
Miguel smiled down at Theodosia, "He does, does he? And what about you? Do you want a child or no?"
“And I…….I will perform the duties expected of me as a wife.” Theodosia will never outright say that she doesn’t want a child. Who knows who could be listening. She wouldn’t want that sort of thing to get back to Richard.
Miguel just nodded, with no response. The tone to Theodosia's voice sounded nervous somehow, he was oblivious to what it could be.
Theodosia returns her focus Addie. The small dog in her arms is a constant source of comfort. “We should go back.” She doesn’t want to be late for dinner.
"…Yes of course," Miguel responded, turning to go back, thinking of what might be troubling Theodosia. He sighed, it wasn't any of his business, if it was someone would tell him.
Without saying another word, Theodosia turns and walks the short distance back to the house. They hadn’t gone too terribly far but the sun was already getting low. What had taken the most time was her conversation with Elizabeth. She sighs quietly at the thought as she opens the gate and walks up the front path.
Miguel got ahead of Theodosia so he could hold the door open for her, as she passed him, he smiled at her gently.
“Thank you,” She says with a slight smile as she enters the house. The walk had been nice. Being around other people and breathing in the fresh air is good for her.
Miguel nodded and followed her inside, it was about 6:50. Miguel instantly went to go check on Chef Gruosi to see if dinner was almost done.
Theodosia unclip’s Addie’s leash and sets the dog free. The small Spaniel immediately takes off down the hallway. She, on the other hand, goes into the nearest bathroom to get washed up.
Miguel finished talking with Gruosi and went to the parlor, where he found Richard, doing some work. Miguel lightly knocked on the wall letting Richard know he was there, “Master Richard? Dinner is ready, sir.”
Richard looks up from his work and peers over to him. “I shall be there momentarily.” He finishes up the last bit of work that he’s on before setting the papers aside and standing up. “What has Chef Gruosi prepared for tonight?”
Theodosia enters the dining room and takes her usual seat. She doesn’t dare touch her food until Richard arrives.
“Roasted chicken with buttermilk biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as some fresh apple pie for dessert, sir.” Miguel responded, stepping out of Richard’s way.
Richard nods his head before he brushed past Miguel and made his way into the dining hall. A serving woman pulls out his chair and hands him a napkin before disappearing. “How was your walk?”
“It was lovely. I ran into Elizabeth. She was taking the boys to see her parents for a few days,” Theodosia responds.
During dinner, Miguel went to the servant quarters to rest from the long and tiring day. He entered room and closed the door behind him, if lucky he’d have some peace and quiet for about an hour.
They eat dinner in silence other than the occasional request to pass food. With the meal finished it's half an hour in the parlor. Richard does some work and she does some sewing. Addie comes prancing into the room a few minutes later, a half chewed up shoe in her mouth. Theodosia grabs the item and shoves it under the couch before her husband notices. Dealing with that isn't something that she feels like doing right now. More time passes before the couple retires to the bedroom. Doing what Richard wants is the only way she makes it through another day and Richard just so happens to want a baby.
A little while later, Theodosia sits in front of the vanity in the bathroom, brushing her hair and getting ready to turn in for the night.
Miguel had done a a little bit more evening work but thankfully, it was time to rest. He went and started to get ready for bed in one of the servant bathrooms.
(Skip?)
(Yeah sure)
Theodosia sits on the swing in the back garden, her eyes closed. It’s a beautiful day outside. She still has a few more hours to herself before Richard returns home. Addie lays on one of the chairs a few feet away, her ears perked. The song of lovely chirping and singing comes from the open doors to the parlor. Pearl, her white canary, is in a wonderful mood and it shows through the happy little songs.
After doing a few chores inside, Miguel went outside to check on Theodosia, “Lady Theodosia?” He said coming up to her, “Is there anything I can get you at the moment?”
Upon hearing someone say her name, Theodosia opens her eyes and looks around. “No thank you, Miguel.” Sitting out here and enjoying the peace is good enough for her. “Would like like to sit with me?” The swing is sit up like a bench so there’s plenty of room for the both of them to sit comfortably.
Miguel smiled and nodded, “Of course m’lady,”. He sat down next to her, “Enjoying this beautiful day so far?”
