She blushed and looked at him shyly.

"Looks way better on you than it ever did on me." He stated, grinning.

"Th-That's not true," she denied quietly.

"Definitely is. I look horrible in baseball caps. I do look good in beanies though…"

"Uh, I-I'm sure you look g-good in anything," she stammered slightly.

He froze, not quite sure what to say as his ears reddened. "U-uh…"

She quickly became worried. "Oh, uh, did– um…. did I s-say something wrong?" she stumbled violently over the words. "I-I'm sorry…"

"Laura, I think that's the best fucking compliment I've ever received."

She looked at him with wide eyes. "I-I-I… uh…"

"Now you've got me flustered." He groaned jokingly, flopping back. "Whatever shall I do now that my title has been lost?"

She blushed. "S-Sorry…"

"Alas, that would make you it's new holder. I congratulate your ascension to the throne."

"Wh-What?" she asked shyly, very confused.

"I have no idea what I'm talking about." He admitted casually. "I just talk a lot."

"I noticed," she laughed quietly. "That's alright, I don't mind."

"You don't seem to talk too often. Is that just a personal choice? My mom used to say that the quieter you are, the more people listen when you do talk."

"I-I don't want to be annoying," she said quietly, looking at the floor. She spoke the word annoying as if it carried more burden than dying.

"I talk a lot, but that doesn't always make me annoying." He looked over at her. "Plus, I like listening to your voice."

"N-No, you're not annoying, but I am. But it's not only that. If I talk too long, without being interrupted, my stomach feels weird and I get anxious. Kinda like this. Right now." Her voice petered out and she pressed the fingers of her free hand to her temple. God, you're so stupid! You're worthless! Such a pest! So annoying…

He sat up and plopped his head on her shoulder. "Anxiety, right? I still like the sound of your voice."

She jumped slightly. "Oh, I-I'm sorry…"

"Don't be." Nicky said softly, squeezing her hand.

Laura hesitantly pressed her cheek against his hair.

"I don't think you could annoy me." His voice was quiet.

"Yeah? I'm told that I'm good at it," she muttered.

"They lied. Jealousy does that."

She looked at him in surprise. "N-No one's ever been jealous of me…"

"Bullshit. Have you looked in a mirror? That's not even the top reason."
