“He does look new…” Noel said absentmindedly before whirling around to face Trenton, her eyes ablaze with passion and curiosity. Her arms flailed slightly as she spoke.
“Trent! How the heck can you hear? How did they put actual wolf ears on your head? Did they do anything else to you? And, just so I understand, why exactly do you feel the need to hide it? I mean, I don’t hide my extra arms.” She fell silent, staring at them again in fascination.
Talon smiled back at Trenton before going over to Evan. He had an amused expression on his face, like he’d been silently laughing at himself. “You know what, dude? I think I’m gonna get this arm looked at. I somehow convinced Ms. Miller nothing was wrong, but it’s starting to actually hurt now. I’ll see you in a bit. Oh, and tell me what went down while you were still in that prison when I come back, alright?”
He gave a little salute with his left hand and left, muttering his intentions to the others as he passed, his dreadlocks swinging around his head.
“That’s cool,” Alister smiled back. “How so?”
“Well, he’s got the healing abilities,” she tilted her head as they continued the arm movements. “I’ve got the brains.” She chuckled, dipping her head slightly. “And water abilities, which can be useful from time to time.”
“Ohhhh,” he looked back at the man in curiosity. Then he looked back, a confused expression crossing his face. “Then why didn’t he heal Evan, Noel, or me?”
“Ah,” she exhaled. “See those people? They’re badly injured people from ’7. He wouldn’t rest until he could alleviate their pain, but he’s been working on them for several days now.” She lowered her voice. “The factory they’d been working in exploded.”
His eyes widened. Not feeling comfortable discussing that anymore, he lowered his voice as well. “Wow. Um, could we change the subject?”
“Of course.”
