"Do you have any suggestions?" Derlik hummed a bit, tilting his hand to Nik to offer the soul.

Nik shifted back, shaking his head a little. "No." He replied softly.
(hhh if this is how Derlik reacts to harassment I hate to see what he'd do if Nik told him about his ex)

"Alright then…" Derlik hummed a bit, examining the soul.

Nik closed his eyes again, letting out a faint breath.

Derlik put the soul back in his pocket, shrugging.
"I'll figure it out later."
Nik took a deep breath, still holding onto Smoke.

"Did you sleep?" Derlik asked after a moment.
Nik shook his head a little. "No." He replied.

"You really should. It'll help." Derlik looked at Nik a moment, debating just doing it now.
Nik shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know if I can." He replied simply.

"I can help with that," Derlik said, hand slowly moving to Nik's cheek.
Nik inhaled softly, looking up at Derlik uncertainly.

Derlik cupped Nik's head in both hands now, touch light and gentle.
"Sleep…" It was a soft command. It wouldn't kick in right away. Just make him tired for now.
Nik closed his eyes for a moment, letting out a faint breath.

Derlik smiled faintly, hands still on Nik's cheeks.
Nik didn't speak, just kept his eyes closed.

Derlik hummed softly, gently having Nik lean on him to fall asleep.
Nik eventually fell asleep, Smoke still curled in his arms.

Derlik smiled, running his fingers through Nik's hair a moment. Still, he had an idea. He gently nudged Smoke to wake the kitten up.
Smoke shifted sleepily, blinking his yellow eyes up at Derlik, and stretching.

"Hey, Smoke," Derlik said gently, reaching up into his pocket.
"I've got a new toy for you!" he pulled the soul out, offering it to Smoke.
Smoke cocked his head, blinking sleepily and not quite understanding.

Derlik lightly patted Smoke's head.
"Still sleepy?" he cooed gently.
Smoke nodded a little bit, giving a tiny yawn and stretching again.

Derlik picked Smoke up out of Nik's arms, gently laying the man down to sleep. He set Smoke lightly in his lap and pet Smoke's back gently.
Smoke leaned into the touch with a sleepy little purr, closing his eyes and settling down in Derlik's lap.

Derlik set the soul down for Smoke, smiling gently as he pet the cat.
"You really helped Nik earlier," he praised gently.
Smoke looked up at him, blinking, and giving a curious little "mrowr?"

Derlik figured it be better if he actually understood Smoke, so he gently turned Smoke human.
"He was really upset, and you helped calm him down!"
Smoke blinked, and nodded a little bit. "Oh. I…that's kind of my job, though." He said, tipping his head at Derlik. "It's not…special."
