Cliché Roleplay [Closed]

Hunter looked around, noticing how the living room became filled with people. He sighed when he realized the person he was searching for still wasn’t here. Damian noticed and flicked Hunter on the forehead.
“Kiddo,” he said, motioning at the door. “He’s right there.”
Hunter froze, his heart hammering in his chest. Was he really here, or was Damian merely playing with him?
Slowly, Hunter turned back and felt like he was going to throw up.
Sure enough, there was Noah McArthur. It looked like he had just arrived, because he was by the door, looking around before his eyes finally landed on Hunter’s, the latter feeling like his whole world had stopped.
Noah McArthur was here.

Hunter shook his head, words stuck in his mouth.
"After our announcement," he managed to choke out. "Looks like everyone's here. We should make the announcement already."

Hunter grinned.
"Don't worry, wifey, I got you covered," he said, patting her on the head.

“Yet,” Hunter repeated, holding out his hand for Kenzie to take. “Anyway, let’s go get this over with.”

Hunter lead Kenzie to the front before clearing his throat and taking a deep breath. He looked at Kenzie again, smiled at her, before turning his attention back towards the audience.
"Ladies and gentleman," he said, his voice stiff but loud, gaining the attention of everyone in the room. "Thank you for accepting our invitation to an evening dinner. I'm sure everyone is curious as to why we–McKenzie and I– have invited you." He looked at Kenzie when he mentioned her name, squeezing her hand. "For those who don't know me, my name is Hunter McArthur." He paused, trying to form words in his head. "We have a special announcement to make today. For some of you, it might seem sudden and forced, but I assure you, Kenzie and I have thoroughly thought this through before we agreed upon it." Hunter's eyes landed on his father's, who was staring at him with calculating eyes. Hunter held his gaze as he spoke his next words. "Kenzie and I are… engaged to be married."

Hunter smiled brightly when he noticed Leo. Andy was on Damian's shoulder, clapping loudly while Ally gave him a bright smile. Adrien, who was in Taylor's arms, excited, regardless of whether he knew what was going on or not. Out of all his friends and family, Leo's cheering reached Hunter's ears the most. His best friend jumped up and down, his eyes showing excitement. He cheered loudly, causing other guests near him to inch away from him, and his mother to glare at him. Hunter laughed, his hand tightening its hold on his soon-to-be wife's hand. Then everything in Hunter's ears fell silent when his eyes reached his father's. Noah stood listening with an unreadable look on his face. He made no indication of whether he approved or disapproved. He stood like he didn't care about what he was hearing. Hunter almost looked away when he caught the movement his father made. Immediately, the massive happiness Hunter felt dried off. He looked at Kenzie and smiled thickly, hoping she'd understand that he needed to talk to his father.

Taking a deep breath, Hunter slowly walked towards his father. When he reached him, he stopped. At first, both of them were silent, until Noah talked first.
"You invited me," he said, making Hunter want to scoff.
"Don't thank me," Hunter replied harshly. "Thank Kenzie. She's the one who convinced me that I should invite my father."
Hunter thought he saw something flash in Noah's eyes, but it disappeared just as fast that Hunter figured it was just his imagination. He noticed his father looking behind him, and when he turned around, he saw him staring at Kenzie. It irked him, but before he could say anything, Noah spoke up.
"She reminds me of your mother," he said, causing Hunter to freeze. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Ever since his mother had died, Noah refused to even speak of her. He took down all of the pictures of her, and although he never threw them out, he never looked at them again. Hearing him talk about his mother like that, right now… Hunter didn't know what to feel. "When she smiles."
"What are you getting at?" Hunter forced himself to ask, conflicted.
Noah finally looked at his son.
"Your mother would have wanted to see you like this," his words made Hunter want to punch him.
"And you care why?" he scowled. "You never cared about mother. All you did was hurt her over and over again. Don't you dare speak about her as if you cared."
Noah closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and reached into his pocket to take out a small box. He held it out for Hunter to take, who looked at it with apprehension. He slowly took the box and opened it, finding an elegant, yet simple bracelet.
"Your mother wore it at our wedding," his voice, Hunter noted, was soft. "Her mother, your grandmother, didn't want her to wear it. She did it anyway."
"Why are you giving this to me?" Hunter interrupted. For a second, he thought he was dreaming. There was no way his father was talking kindly to him. What was he planning?
"She wanted your wife to wear it," Noah replied. "She wanted her to have it."
"Look, I don't know what you want from me," Hunter shut the box. "But I don't care. Whatever it is, you're out of luck because I'm done trying to please you."
It didn't get a reaction out of Noah.
"When I first saw you, I swore to myself I'd never be like my father. I promised myself I'd protect you, that I would make sure nothing happened to you," he confessed. "In the end, I did the same thing as my father. I confined you, I took away your freedom… I became a monster. Even after you told me you never wanted to see me again, you sent me an invitation."
"Kenzie convinced me," Hunter repeated.
"After this, you won't have to see me again," Noah continued, ignoring his son's comment. "The McArthur accounts opened in your name will still be available for you. All I want from you is that you take care of your family, be a better head of the family than I ever was." With that, Noah turned around and walked away, leaving Hunter in distress and confusion.

(This did not go as well as I planned…)

(Well, I don't know? I'm glad it went well, though!)

Hunter stared at his father's back as Noah continued to walk away, feeling anger bubbling in his chest. How dare he. How dare he think he could just waltz into his life after ruining it and apologize for it? How dare he think Hunter would just forgive him?
Shaking his head, Hunter looked back to find Leo staring at him with concern. He shook his head, signaling to Leo that it was okay, that he was okay before he began looking around for Kenzie. She had a big smile on her face as she talked to her father, and Hunter felt relieved that John didn't object.
He began to make his way towards Kenzie as her father began to walk away, and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
"Good evening, Mr. Baker," he greeted John with a nod of his head.

"I suppose I have to thank you for bringing her into this world," he said. "If I ever break her heart, you're welcome to punch me in the face."

Hunter gave John another nod.
"Enjoy the party," he muttered to John before he followed Kenzie around like a lost puppy.

"Hey, there, Mr. Vetter," Hunter nodded at Jacob. "Did you get a nice surprise a few minutes ago?"

Hunter grinned.
"Well, that's good," he replied. "It would've been terrible if Kenzie wasn't happy. Then I would have had two people punching me in my face."

Hunter nodded solemnly.
"I've only known three people in her family," he said regretfully. "One who'll mutilate me instead of punching me."

Hunter laughed.
"Okay, okay, we'll go see them," he laughed. "It was nice to see you again, Mr. Vetter. I hope we'll see each other again before our wedding."
