(I think I first named Leo, Leo Carter.)

Hunter was driving when he heard his phone ring.
"Leo, who's calling?" He asked his best friend without removing his eyes from the road. A few seconds later, Leo replied.
"Oh, it's sister-in-law," he said. "Should I pick it up?"
"Yeah," Hunter replied. "Put her on speaker, yeah?"
"Yo, sis-in-law," Leo greeted cheerfully. "Is my girlfriend there with you?"

Kasey laughed when Leo answered the phone.

"Hello, Leo. No, Willow's not with me. I just wanted to double check with Hunter that we have a date set for cake testing," she said.

(Kasey???)

“Yeah, we do,” Hunter answered. “We’re going there tomorrow, remember?”

(Different RP… Dangit.)

"Right, right. Sorry, I guess this week is going by really quickly," Kenzie admitted awkwardly.

Hunter chuckled, but before he could answer, Leo beat him to it.
“It’s fine, sis,” he said. “Hunter totally forgot about this schedule for today, too.”

Kenzie snorted.

"How are we even getting anything done? Nobody can ever remember anything we have to do," she laughed. "Oh! That reminds me, the rehearsal is set for three o'clock, right? And the dinner for six?"

Hunter nodded before he remembered Kenzie couldn’t see him.
“Oh, yeah, that, I remember,” he said.
“Is there anything else you want to interrogate Hunt about, sis?” Leo teased.

Kenzie stuck her tongue out at the phone, then told Leo she was doing so.

"But anyway, no, that was all," she said with a slight sigh. "Oh, wait! We have to pick a song for our first dance."

Hunter groaned.
“Kenzie, the only songs I know are rock, hip hop and the likes,” he said. “There’s no way I’d be able to suggest songs for a wedding.”

"Okay… I'll text you a list for you to pick from, then. Or something," Kenzie sighed, already mentally making the list.

“Yeah, thanks Kenzie,” he grinned. “I’ll try asking Taylor and the others as well.”

"Okay, cool. That's all for me. Anything else you wanted to say?" Kenzie asked, standing to get a pen and paper.

Hunter shook his head.
“Not right now, no,” he replied. “I have created a design for the wedding invitations, though. You can see ‘em when you come over.”

Kenzie grabbed what she needed and sat at her desk with a smile.

"That sounds great. Tomorrow, after cake testing?" she suggested.

“All right,” he replied. “Take care.”

"Bye, Hunter. Love you," Kenzie said before hanging up. She sighed and set the phone down, picking it back up almost immediately. There were songs to find…

“So, are we heading towards Damian’s, or are we going to eat?” Leo finally questioned after a moment’s silence.
“I thought it was obvious,” Hunter scoffed. “Of course we’re going to eat.”

(Shall we skip to the rehearsal? Or the cake testing? The rehearsal would be the day before the wedding.)

(We could skip to the rehearsal.)

(Okay.)

Kenzie was nervous. This was practically her wedding day, after all. Okay, so it wasn't technically her wedding yet, but it would be tomorrow.

"McKenzie, it will be fine," Willow assured her best friend once again. "For the last time, he'll be here."

"But what if he doesn't come? Willow, he's already fifteen minutes late. And you know how he was with Hunter," Kenzie fretted, chewing on her lip.

(Is she talking about her father?)

(Yeah. I was thinking you would ask through Hunter. Lol.
Sorry, I was at work.)

Hunter looked at Kenzie, watching her fidget in nervousness. A part of him wondered whether it was because this was practically their wedding day, or because of something else.
"Kenzie," Hunter placed his hand on her back comfortingly. "What's wrong?"

group

Kenzie looked at Hunter with a nervous smile and shrugged.

"Just pre-wedding nerves, I think. That and the fact that my dad still hasn't shown up," she sighed. "I hope everything's okay…"

Hunter hugged her from the side.
"He'll be here soon," he said quietly. "I don't think he'll ever dream about missing his girl's day."

(I don't know if I should have Hunter invite his father for the wedding…)

(I mean… Kenzie would probably say he should.)

"Right. Of course not," Kenzie sighed, leaning into Hunter's side.

As soon as she had finished speaking, Johb Baker burst through the doors, panting. He held a small box in one hand as he made his way over to the wedding party.

"I'm so sorry, Sunshine. I got stuck in traffic," he apologized, shaking his head at himself. He gave his daughter an apologetic smile and handed her the box. "This was your mom's. I gave it to her right before you were born."

Kenzie gingerly took the box and opened it. Inside lay a delicate silver chain, intertwined with another.

"Daddy… This is beautiful…" she looked up as she whispered. "Thank you."

(Well, we'll see now, won't we? :D)

Hunter looked away, an unknown emotion bubbling in his chest that he tried to ignore.
"You okay, Hunt?" Leo whispered to Hunter, leaning closer. Hunter nodded.
"Yeah," he replied quietly. "It's weird, honestly. It's our wedding day, and neither of our mothers is present. I don't know how to feel about that…"
Leo squeezed his best friend's shoulder.
"She'll be proud," he said seriously. "She wouldn't want you getting upset on a big day, you know."
Hunter shrugged.
"Well, at least there's your mom," he grinned cheekily. Leo nodded with a grin of his own.
"When she found out you got engaged, she was ecstatic. I swear, she even cried."
"That's Ms. Carter for you," Hunter joked. "Anyway, I should pay attention to Kenzie now."
