Hunter dragged himself out of class, exhausted. Thursdays were the days he didn't share anything with Leo. Other than this particular day, he shared his schedule with Leo. Before he could get out of class, however, he was stopped by a girl and a boy knew very well.
"Hunter, wait," the red-haired girl, Mari, said. She wasn't a bad girl or anything, it's just that she was so clingy, it made Hunter want to bail the second he saw her. "We need to ask you something."
Hunter sighed, crossing his arms.
"Yeah?" he asked, his eyes narrowed. "Get on with it, then."
"That girl you were with the other day…" Mari started, trailing off.
"That cute one," the blond boy with her provided.
Mari nodded.
"Are you both going out?"
"So what if we are?" Hunter replied, looking a bit tense.
Mari flinched a little, but then plastered a smile on her face.
"I just wanted to confirm if I still had a chance," she said, her expression dropping. "But I guess I don't. Not anymore."
"Oh, man, you always get the hot ones," the blond boy complained. "You couldn't just let one of us bottom guys have a taste, could you?"
That comment broke the control in Hunter. He grabbed the guy's shirt and slammed him against the wall.
"When you're talking about my girlfriend, watch your mouth," he hissed. "This time I didn't do anything. The next time I hear you barking off shit about her, you'll wish you were never born. Got it?"
Growling, he stalked off, wanting to punch something. Hearing that guy disrespect Kenzie… talking like she was a mere toy infuriated Hunter beyond control. He was glad he had a bit self-control, otherwise, he would have broken that guy's face. Hunter wished he had. He just wanted to get home to Kenzie.
(Here we have a cliche!)
