As they went into the cave, more people were visible- there had to be at least thirty in sight at first glance. There were torches and campfires scattered that lit up the cavern, but the light was still relatively dim, and faces were hard to make out.
What Pollux first noticed was that more than half of the people here were quite young, either teens or children, perhaps his age at best. The second thing was that of the older teens and adults, most of them had clear injuries, whether they be burns or wounds from weapons that were crudely and hastily covered up with bandages. As he walked on, he saw even more people, and an area set aside for those that were perhaps dying from their ailments. There were about five people lying on blankets and makeshift cots, and an old woman sitting nearby, pain and sadness seeming to permanently be etched into her face. Pollux, without thinking, made his way towards her to offer a hand.
Aurelius was one of the last to enter. He was stunned at what he saw. Dragon riders, all like him and his allies, were somewhat crowded into this cave. There were several dragons lined up to the side of the cave. It was a bad temporary living situation, but he could tell they were trying to make the best of it. Even as horrible as it seemed, to Aurelius, it was better than wandering around without a home to return to.
