Sycore wandered to the small entrance of the large cavern, where the wild animals had lived and died in the frozen, dead forest. He glanced around, his crystal eyes glinting in the golden light of the torches that he was passing and emerging into the white cold light of the outside. He clenched his fist around his jagged machete, his already pale skin turning even lighter.
(Animals, sadly, are out in the open and mostly dead. Unless they're domestic)

Grace smiled. "Yeah, I think so." She took the pan off the burner.
"I can wait if you need to ask," Camie peered around, looking for Grace's Aunt Katna.
"Naw, if she needs help one my cousins could probably help." Grace said.
"Alrighty then," Camie began slowly towards the market, waiting for Grace to catch up.
Grace followed her. "So how's your family holding up?" She asked, pulling on a hat.

"Decently," Camie said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Maggie's been jumpy recently and won't tell us why… not even me…" She bit her lip. The wind whipped at their faces, bringing tears to the corners of Camie's eyes.
