"Just thought I'd come talk to you. You looked like you were alone." He shrugged some, a smile on his lips. "I'm Brett." He introduced himself, sitting down across from him. "What's your name?" Brett inquired, placing his hands in his lap and leaning forward some. Not an enormous amount, just a bit to be engaging.

Ezra placed one hand on his chin and shrugged. "I mean, you are right. I am alone." He tapped his foot against the ground and pulled his phone back out of his pocket. He turned it on to look at the time, but even he didn't know why he did. He wasn't going anywhere important, he never had plans, he just… existed.

Once again, he turned off and put away his phone. He remet Brett's eyes. His eyebrows furrowed slightly. W-why is he smiling? he wondered, but he decided to shrug it off. He finally spoke, his words slow and quiet. "I'm… Ezra…"
This was the first time in a while that Ezra had actually spoken to someone past the word 'hello.' It made him a bit nervous.

“Nice name, I like it.” Brett hummed, stretching his hand out, to shake Ezra’s. “It’s nice to meet you.”

"O-oh. Thanks." He extended his spidery hand to meet Brett's. "It's nice to meet you too." He looked around awkwardly, He had no clue what to say next. Unlike most, Ezra wasn't quite much of a natural when it comes to conversations. Or interactions at all. He spoke shakily. "S-so, uhh… got any hobbies?"

group

(Ezra is too relatable)

Brett nodded. “Yeah, a few. I play an instrument here and there. What about you?” He asked with a smile sitting back in the seat. “Got any interesting hobbies?”

(Yeah XD)

Ezra's face flushed slightly, but he had no clue what there was to be embarrassed about. His hobbies were pretty normal. "U-umm, I like to sing and, uh, play bass guitar." He pulled the drawstring of his hoodie to his lips and gently bit down on the aglet. He searched for something to say but now he definitely didn't have anything to say. He crossed his legs over one another and rest his elbow on his thigh.

Brett chuckled at his awkwardness. “If I’m bothering you, you can just ask me to leave. I won’t take any offense.” He said in a polite tone, that matched his gentle smile. The boy in front of him seemed to be having a hard time, and Brett wasn’t sure why, but if he was bothering him, he was going to try to make sure he stopped.

Ezra's eyes widened slightly. "N-no. You're fine," he stammered, soon falling down to a mumble. "Please don't go." This was the first time in a while that he held a conversation with someone and he didn't want it to end so quickly. And despite how seemingly uncomfortable he was, he was quite enjoying the conversation. He tried smiling, which actually turned out better than he expected. It didn't feel forced. He felt happy. His eyes brightened slightly and his cheeks took on a slightly pinker tint, now with happiness, causing his freckles to stand out even more.

A smile stayed on his lips, relaxing some. "Alright, if you're sure." He replied crossing his arms over his chest loosely. He felt calm, and relaxed here. In front of Ezra that is. "So what classes are you taking this year? And are you dorming here?" Brett inquired, fiddling with the sleeve of his shirt. It was loose, and didn't show off his slenderness. He preferred this, he never liked how small he felt. Everyone always assumed he was younger than he actually was. It rather sucked.

Ezra shifted slightly. "U-uh, you know, the basics… you know… maths… sciences and uh… s-stuff like that." He had no clue why answering such a simple question was such a complex thing. He let out a rushed and almost incoherent mumble. "…and I'm majoring in music." He bit down on the aglet of his drawstring once again, looking side-to-side nervously. "And u-uh, no, I'm not dorming here." He looked down at his shoes and began twiddling his thumbs. "U-um… what are you taking?"

group

Brett chuckled some, still in a calm and composed manner. "I'm majoring in videography, but then I also have the typical English, and History. Stuff like that." He shrugged some, pulling his leg up onto the chair. His chin was resting on his knee, and he glanced at her hands. He tugged at his sleeve, pulling them over his hands. It was rather childish, but it was a quirk that he didn't mind having.

Ezra's smile returned to his face. "That's nice," he chirped. His face brightened significantly. "You know, music is awesome. It has helped me through a lot of rough times in my life…excluding some, but those were quite… awful." He began rambling on about music, all awkwardness that he had seemingly disappeared. "I find it quite a shame that there are people in this world who don't like music. Like, it's so wonderful!" He stopped fiddling with his thumbs and making small gestures with his hands. "I've been studying music since I was little and I have a huge place in my heart for it. I was studying music theory with my mother, but that… didn't last as long as I would've hoped." He suddenly stopped talking. "I'm talking too much, aren't I? I'm sorry."

group

Brett's smile grew warm as he sat there and talked. He seemed to care a lot about music, and have a deep passion for it. This seemed like his comfortable place. When Ezra apologized, Brett snapped out of his thoughts. "No! No, you're fine!" He told him, his leg sliding off the chair to the floor. "You seem happy when you talk about it, so go ahead. I find it interesting!"

"Oh," his eyes showed confusion, usually he would have heard something along the lines of 'yeah, you are talking too much.' He shrugged it off and continued. "You see, at first, I had picked up the viola, but that was… yeah no," he laughed a little, one could describe the sound as a giggle. "It just wasn't for me. I decided that I wanted to try out the double bass instead, though I was laughed at a lot due to my small stature." His eyebrow raised in curiosity. "You said that you play some instruments, what do you play?"

group

Brett blinked back, processing his question. "O-oh me?" He asked running a hand through his hair. He furrowed his brow in thought. "Well, I play the drums. I know basic guitar. Not much else. Though I will note, never ask me to sing. I sound like a drowning cat. Heck even that sounds better than I do." He snorted some, sitting up a little straighter. "I'd say I was a decent drummer."

He smiled at Brett. "Aww come one, I'm sure you don't sound that bad," he assured him. "But that aside, I'd love to hear you play sometime."

group

"Pfft, the only people who like it when I sing, are the demons I summon." He laughed, leaning on his elbow. He was rather prone to moving instead of sitting still. Trying out all kinds of different positions. "I mean, isn't there a music hall here? I think there's a drum set too. I was here last year, and I still don't know." He laughed again standing up. "Wanna go look?"

"Yeah, sure!" Ezra stood up and dusted off his pants. "Any clue as to where it might be?" He asked, looking around. It being his first year here, Ezra didn't know the school very well. He wasn't as prone to getting lost as a blind whale.

group

"Not sure, but I think I do. I believe it's the big building in the middle of the campus." He hummed stretching out. He went back to his normal stance, and tugged down his sleeves to cover his wrists. "Let's go before classes." He smiled starting to jog off to the door.

"Okay." He began jogging after him, running around walls and to the door. He paused for a moment. Wait a minute, he thought to himself, why am I using the door? He facepalmed but used it anyway. He picked up his pace a little bit to catch up with Brett.

group

Brett came up to the door and pushed it open. He held it open with his foot, waiting for Ezra. "Looks like it's right there, see?" He asked pointing off towards a large round building. "That's the fine arts building, I avoided it like the plague last year. I thought it was the "singing building."" He chuckled some.

"Oh, wow. It looks nice. From the outside anyway." He strode slightly ahead of Brett and toward the building. It had large glass windows. He was practically dying to see inside, so much that he was bouncing a little in excitement. He turned to Brett and pulled him forward by the wrist, taking partial note of how… small the older male was. He decided to disregard it. "Hurry up~" Ezra whined. He was practically like a small child in a toy store, blue and black strands of hair shifting with each tug he made.

group

Brett was laughing, rather hard actually. He watched Ezra tug him along, stumbling along at a walking pace. "I'm coming, I'm coming. Chillax a little." He teased trying not to trip, landing on his face. He noticed Ezra was rather excited, practically able to bounce off the walls if he wanted to. "You'll rip my arm off or hurt yourself."

"Fine~" He walked up to the door of the fine arts building. They were large and just like the windows, made of glass. Through it, he could hear faint sounds of instruments. He smile grew wider.

"The usual, math, english, science, history." She hummed, stretching out her arms. "Though I have an advanced science class." She mumbled with a light pink on her cheeks. She never liked to boast about herself.

"Oh that's cool! What teachers?" Ran continued, dismissing the slight shade of pink appearing on CJ's cheeks.

Brett pulled his arm away from Ezra and laughed. “Well go on, open the door!” He chuckled gesturing to the door.

CJ shrugged, unsure of her teachers. “Don’t know, I’ll have to check later.” She mumbled sinking back into her seat. “What about you?”

Libra sat on a seat near them, taking out a notebook and starting to sketch random things while hearing them talk. It was nice meeting new people in school, especially the people who’ve transferred from another school. She pursed her lips and tapped the eraser of the pencil on her cheek.

"I don't quite remember either… I think there was a Miss… Miss Ro… sorry I can't quite remember the name," Ran apologized, with a soft laugh. "Whatcha drawing there, Libra?" she turned to ask the other girl, who seemed to be drawing some stuff.

Ezra snapped out of his daze and looked at the door handle. He chuckled awkwardly. "Oh yeah, that's what that thing does."

He opened the door and stepped into the large atrium of the building. His eyes sparkled with awe as he looked around the building. He knew he belonged there, no one could tell him otherwise. He bounced up and down as he explored the building, each room bringing him a different joy. He opened the door to one of the relatively smaller rooms, there he found a drum set.

"Brett! Brett, look! A drum set! Now play for me. No excuses."
