Tara covered her face. "Abby…." She moaned.

Abby stopped and sat up right. "What?"

"This is so…I didn't tell him."

"Tell him what?"

Abby's eyes widened. "About…" She trailed off, filling in the rest of the sentence in her mind.

Tara nodded, clenching her jaw. "Should I?" She asked.

"It would help. A lot. How was everything okay?" Abby asked, suddenly worried.

Tara pulled her knees up to her chest. "I don't want him to think I'm a broken mess, and leave like he did Abby. I don't want him to find out that there's something wrong with me." She whispered.

Tara nodded. "Abby, I can't just forget about him. But I'll try, okay? I'll try."

"You have to. He was just a stupid speed bump," Abby said, biting back on her venom.

Tara nodded. "We should probably get to bed." She finally said. " we have work tomorrow. "

"Okay. Tar, I'm so happy for you!" Abby squeezed Tara in a quick, tight hug.

Tara smiled lightly, hugging her friend back before going to bed.

Tara walked into the reserve the next morning with Abby. She quickly checked in and went straight back to Emerald's pool.

Abby took a break from he normal routine and unexpectedly followed Tara to Emerald.

Tara sat down at the edge of the pool and stroked Emerald softly.

Abby watched, but didn't join in. She arched her shoulders in a way that almost made her look… scared.
