Marine Rescue (Closed)

"Hm….that's kinda far…"

"It's not that bad."

"How do you even manage work and school with that commute?" Tara asked.

"Uhh, I don't know… Great gas mileage?" he joked.

Tara laughed. "Okay." She answered.

"You're going for Marine Biology right?"

Tara lifted her head and looked at Darren. "If I wasn't, d'you think I'd work at a MARINE RESERVE?"

"Well I'm not majoring in Marine Biology and I work at the same place as you,"

"True, true." Tara answered.

Darren chuckled, "Do you plan on working at the reserve forever or do you have other plans?"

Tara shrugged. "I'm not sure. I haven't thought out that far."

"Me neither. I don't know if I'll stay, I was offered a position to be a student surgical resident at a nearby hospital recently." He sighed, "It's hard because I really like where I work now,"

She won't even come in my room to talk to me she'll either call or text……our rooms are literally connected by a bathroom.
She could just walk in here.)

Tara looked up at him. "I don't want you to leave." She said simply.

"I know," He sighed, "I'm conflicted,"

Tara sighed. "Well, tell me your pros and cons." She finally said. "It might help you figure it out."

"Oof," He sighed, "I have always wanted to be a surgeon, I like helping people but I can do the same thing for animals at the reserve. You know? I guess a con to leaving would be not getting to see you every day at work and not being around the animals as often. Pros? I think I'd enjoy being a surgeon more if that's even possible. It pays more." He paused, "I could compromise and try to get a position in the Trauma unit at the reserve. Do surgery on animals but then I would need a veterinary licence,"

Tara nodded, processing everything that Darren was saying. "Okay. So what you're saying is that you'd be able to do the same thing at both places, but if you want to continue with the reserve you need a veterinary license?"

"Kind of. And that's a ton of work because my knowledge is about human anatomy I don't know as much about marine anatomy. I would have to change what I'm going to school for and I really don't know," He sighed.

Tara sighed and kissed Darren on the cheek before dropping her head to his shoulder again.

“Good,” he nodded. He didn’t want to have to worry about hurting anyone if he chose to leave.

Tara nodded. "I hate to ask, but what time is it?" She finally said.

Darren looked up at the clock with a sigh. “7:23,”

"Darren, would you please tell me what's bothering you?" Tara asked gently.

“It’s just…” he sighed, “My brothers coming earlier than I thought he was,”
