Henry countered his dodge, forcing him to let go of Lysander. “You’re out of your mind if you think you'll be able to get to them without killing me first!”
" how about I kill your brother in front of you?" Jacob asked
The shadows crept up the stairs, forming a dark curtain. “Leave them alone!” Henry roared as he tackled Jacob.
Lysander coughed heavily for a few moments as he hit the ground.
While Jacob was distracted Tyler formed a shield around Betty as she went down the stairs to Lysander
Lysander looked up at Betty and shook his head. “Betty, get out of here. Get the kids and keep them safe.” he whispered insistently. “And tell Tyler to save her strength. For the baby's sake.”
" Ly let me take care of you " she said
“I’m more worried about you.” he pointed out. “I have a plan. You just have to stay safe.”
" your weak Lysander please you can't stand let me help you " she said
“I don't need to stand to get him.” he told her, sitting up a little to whisper in her ear. “I’m pretty sure he can still hear me but… I had that stake soaked in vervain. If I get his heart, great. If not, he still won't recover right.” he said as softly as he could.
" let me do it then you don't need to hurt yourself anymore please " She said
“I… I don't want you to get hurt, mon ange.” he admitted, gently holding her hand. “I can heal as a human but if you get hurt, it's more serious.”
" how is it more serious your human now " She said
“And he’s a vampire. He knows how to hurt you. He doesn't care about me. If he wanted to, he could have snapped my neck instead of just choking me.” he pointed out. “He’s here because he and his family hate you.”
" I don't care Lysander " She said
“I do!” he argued passionately. “He’s going to kill everyone I love and I can't let him do that! I have to stop him.”
" he'll kill you and you won't come back! Why won't you let me protect you!?" She said her voice cracking at the end
“I’m trying to protect you!” he said, holding her hand tighter. “I love you and our kids need their mother. I know I'm weaker but I can heal and what I can't, I can always be turned and I’ll heal through that.”
" your human! You'll die" she said a tear rolling down her cheek
Lysander shook his head and gently wiped away her tear. “I really don't think he's going to kill me, Betty. At least, not as long as you are alive.” he told her. “He’s… He's more likely to kill you and the kids first to try to break me. You are my strength. I can do this.” he assured though he was beginning to get a little misty-eyed as well.
"You're not doing this " she said
He sighed softly and hugged her. “I can't let you do it either.”
"Please" she begged
“How?” he asks in a whisper. “How are we going to do this if we won't let the other?”
" I can use my oracle magic" she said
“To kill him?” he asked, almost hopeful.
She nodded
“But what will happen to you if you do that? I feel like I just got you back.”
" I'll be okay" she said cupping his cheek and kissing him
He returned the kiss, placing his hand on hers. “I hope so. I love you.”
