Arria’s smile grew into a grin, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink, “I also can’t believe that an extremely handsome human is pushing the wheelchair I’m sitting in.” He said, turning redder as he said the words.
Mermaid romance (one-on-one//closed)
Carter nearly choked on a breath, turning an extreme shade of red. He probably looked like a fire truck, gosh darn it. I just was called heckin handsome by this guy, oh my gosh… “Th-thank you, uh, yeah- um-“ Gosh, Carter could barely form words. He was still so tongue tied by the time he got to the park, he couldn’t even point out the beautiful stars.
Arria was still grinning like crazy as he looked up, his eyes sparkling, "Wow…" He couldn't believe it. The stars were gorgeous and Arria let out a laugh, "This is incredible…"
Carter forced himself to look at the stars, “Uh, well, yeah, the stars are really pretty. I, um, like to come out and see them a lot. I’m sure they look even prettier out in the ocean, where there isn’t land for miles,” Carter pointed out, slowly getting the reddish tint out of his face.
"I don't get to see them that often," Arria admitted quietly, "I've seen them before but not for this long." He rubbed at his neck and bit his lip, still looking up at the sky.
Carter smiled, then rolled Arria up next to a bench. Carter then sat down next to him, staring at the sky. He felt a distinct urge to reach out and grab Arria’s hand, but stopped himself. He let out a little laugh, “Let’s stay here, then. I’m sure no one would mind if we stargazed just for a little bit. Technically, it’s against the city law to be in the park at night, so we’ll be alone.”
"Wait really?" Arria drew his gaze from the sky to look at Carter, "It's against the law to be here… why is that?" He asked, leaning on the arm rest, resting his head on his hand.
“Something about vandalism, I think. I heard a rumor that a long while ago some kids came at night an tore out all the benches. On two occasions,” Carter let out a deep laugh, “But really, I only see the police around here like, twice a year.” Carter moved to look at Arria, but basically found himself nose to nose with the merman. Gosh you’re so beautiful…
Wow.. his laugh is just… wow. "Huh.. I wonder why people would want to do that. And it sounds like your police aren't the best if they only come round here twice a year." Arria said quietly, followed by a slight giggle.
Carter laughed again, “They’re mostly busy with other crimes. Like we have this one law where if you block a pedestrian crosswalk with your car, you’ll get a ticket. It’s never enforced, but, eh,” Carter shrugged, and took a few seconds to realize Arria probably didn’t know much about cars and crosswalks and tickets. He turned a slight shade of red from embarrassment.
Arria smiled, "You're cute when you're embarrassed." He said quietly, trying to not turn a shade of red himself. Why'd you say that? Oh god there's no going back now… Arria bit his lip and looked down at his lap.
Gosh darn, Carter was d-mining himself, but he leaned closer to Arria, “You’re really cute. And you’re still cute when you’re embarrassed, too.” Gosh, Arria’s lips felt so close to Carter’s. Beneath the stars… Carter reached out a hand, turning Arria’s face to look at him gently. He was gonna do it, Carter was going to kiss Arria, but red and blue lights suddenly started to flash. Carter jumped back and saw a police car at the other end of the park. He eyes widened and Carter scooped up Arria bridal style without thinking, going into a full on sprint towards the ocean.
"What the!" Arria's arms were around the others neck quickly, his head buried in Carters shoulder, holding on in case Carter accidentally dropped him which he highly doubted, "Get to the rock pool!"
Carter heard a shout, which made him sprint faster. The beach was in view, all he’d have to do was jump in the water and made a mad swim for it, hoping the police wouldn’t see where they went. Carter’s grip subconsciously tightened on Arria. His feet hit the sand, then the salty water. Water sprayed up, stinging one of his eyes, but when he made it to waste deep he let Arria go in the water and took a deep breath, plunging his own head under the surface. Just hold my breath until the police give up the search of the water. Because that would be easy…
As soon as himself and Carter were under the water, Arria grabbed Carter's hand and started swimming, "Let go of my hand and next time I'll leave you to the string rays." He said, his grip on the others hand tightening as he swam them to the rock pool.
When they were just about to the rock pool, Carter was running out of air, he choked a little, and out of instinct sucked in a breath. Sucked in salty water. He jerked, pulling at Arria. Need air. He choked again, blindly reaching out. *If his head broke the surface, the police would see…
"I know, two more seconds." Arria replied and swam the last length as fast as he could. Once they were out of view, Arria swam Carter to the surface, giving him the air he needed.
Carter gasped out, coughing up water and trying to blink out his stinging eyes. In his delirious mess, he put most of his weight on Arria as he coughed it out. He hadn’t even realized he was basically pressing his chest into the merman’s face.
Arria didn't care how Carter lent on him as he coughed, as long as he was safe then that was all that mattered to him at the present moment. Arria held his weight and gently pushed Carter so that once he had finished coughing, he wasn't leaning so much on him, "You alright?"
“N-“ Another cough, “Nope,” Carter went through one more fit of coughing before blinking hazily at Arria, “Gosh, how does that salt water not hurt your eyes, my sting,” Carter closed his eyes just for a few seconds of relief, “Ow…”
Arria placed his hand softly on the others cheek, "Merman magic I guess. Give it a few moments, it'll stop stinging soon." He said, rubbing his thumb gently over Carter's cheek.
Carter leaned his head into the merman’s hand, keeping his eyes closed as he said quietly, “Sorry I couldn’t take you around the whole city. Maybe we can try again on a different night.” Carter could feel warmth reverberating off of Arria, and gosh it felt so nice. He could’ve curled up and slept if he wanted to.
Arria smiled softly, "It's fine, Carter. Next time let's not go the the park then. Don't apologise, it wasn't your fault that the police came." He said gently, giggling a little, "It was kinda fun in all honestly."
“Yeah, you’re fun to carry. Me carrying you through the park like that was kinda romantic~” Carter didn’t realize he said it out loud until too late. He bit down on his tongue, looking away as his face grew to a deep shade of red.
(Gtg to bed, see you later :)
Arria blushed lightly, "Yeah, not that I'm complaining, I-I kinda enjoyed it…" He said quietly, smiling softly.
(alright, seeya later :)
“You did?” Carter asked hesitantly, “Like, you really did?” Carter raised an eyebrow and studied Arria’s face. It had a really cute tint of pink to it, which made him feel less bad for being so embarrassed.
Arria bit his lip and nodded his face turning redder slightly but not much, “Y-Yeah… I-I really did.” He said, his voice becoming quieter as he spoke.
“Um…” Carter sucked in a breath and forced himself to be a little more confident, “Can I- Would you mind if I- Can I kiss you?” He breathed softly, brushing a strand of hair on Arria’s face. He wasn’t sure if they asked for consent like they did with humans, but gosh darn Carter couldn’t stop staring at the merman’s lips.
"You didn't have to ask." Arria replied, smiling shyly, wrapping his arms gently around the others neck, pulling their bodies closer.
“Humans do that…” Carter trailed off as he brought his lips softly to the others, a kiss soft as a feather. And gosh, Arria’s lips. Carter wanted more, he wanted to kiss the merman again and again. But he pulled away, still trying to be somewhat modest.
