"I appreciate it," he said, his smile growing. "How are the new recruits getting along?"

"Well enough. The sharpshooter's name is Ming, by the way. White is going to be trouble, I reckon. Hugh and Johnnie are going to dorm together."
"Tomorrow we should start training them," the Prince said, "White definitely needs to hone his skills a bit."
group
Fane nodded in agreement but didn't make a move to get off of Anto's shoulder. She was comfy, and it's been forever since she was able to let herself relax and be comfortable around someone.

(queue the heavy sigh)
"Am I going to continue to bunk with Mercedes, or are you gonna switch rooms?" he asked, frowning down at the wet towel on the ground. Mercedes' is not going to be happy about that.
(Oh no! It's Gravy Bones)

"I have a room to myself, being the first mate and all," she said, lifting her head and raising a brow at the discarded towel. "But there's an extra bed available."
group
(noo)
"I should probably get some more ice for my legs," he admitted, but unwilling to move from the spot.
group
"I'll be back. There's plenty in my room for all the rum." She grinned and stood, disentangling her fingers from his.
""I should probably wait to move in until most of the crew is asleep, shouldn't I?" he asked backing up to give her space to stand up.
group
She hummed and tilted her head, then nodded. "Probably best. Talk would spread like wildfire. I'd rather give it a bit first."
He gave her a salute. "Be back soon, Lady Valhalla."
group
She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Don't miss me too much, Prince Anthony." She saluted him back with a quick and kind smile, then ducked through the door and disappeared.
Hugh and Johnnie were walking past the door as she walked out, talking about different types of swords and the best way to use them. Hugh gave the first mate a small nod as the walked away, saying, "White and Ming are in they cabin, in case you were wond'ren."
group
Fane nodded in thanks. "Hopefully Ming will be able to keep White from getting into trouble," she said with a smirk, then bowed her head in farewell and headed towards her cabin.
The two or three crew members that were cleaning the top deck gave her ample space, scooting over to each other to whisper the various rumors they had heard throughout the ship. Exactly what they were saying, however, was hard to tell.
group
Fane didn't pay them any mind, strolling past and picking at her nails as if nothing was wrong. And really, nothing was wrong. Over the past weeks she's known the prince, she's grown close to him, closer than anyone besides Mercedes. That was scary at first, but now, it didn't seem all that bad.
When she came back, he had laid down completely on the bed, his hands folded over his chest.
"I have a request," he said as the door was opened and the first mate slipped inside.
group
She closed the door and rose a brow as she set the bucket of ice next to the bed Anto was laying on. "Oh?"
"When we are in private, would you mind calling me by my real name?" he tossed the towel over to Fane, having picked it up while she was fetching the bucket. "It's been forever since I've had someone say my name with regularity."
group
She caught the towel and wrapped some ice cubes in it. "Anthony?" she questioned, making sure she had the name correct.
He gave her a thumbs up. " That is it. Now, may I have the ice? My leg began hurting very badly almost as soon as you left."
group
She gave him a skeptical look and sat on the edge of the bed next to him, handing him the towel. "You make it sound like my presence magically heals you," she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
"I think you more distract me from it," he said, sitting up and putting the ice on his knee. "It is easy to get lost in a conversation."
group
"I'm flattered," she said sweetly with a smile, then moved so she was sitting on the other end of the bed and facing him. "Don't expect some extra affection or anything," she said, switching gears, "at least for now."
"I figured as much," he said, letting out a sigh when the coldness of the ice finally reached his knee. "I do not think I am going be able to make it to your cabin tonight."
group
She shrugged and leaned against the footboard of the bed. "Thought so, considering." She then snickered. "I do not think."
