Opposing Tides (Private RP with Circe)

She sighed and rubbed at her forehead. "What are they saying?" she asked, the question laced with a grumble. Sure, she had made the decision to simply treat Anto however she wanted, but it was still annoying.
"That you two fancy each other," Parris said simply. "Is that the truth?"
group
Fane froze. Like, statue still. She didn't move, didn't speak, barely breathed. That wasn't what she had been expecting, and… She didn't know how to react to it. She could've easily denied it and let it be that, but she just couldn't do it.
"I….cannot speak for her," Anto said quietly after a few moments of silence, "But it is the truth for me.)
group
Fane was quiet for some time before she took a deep breath in and lifted her head. "Does it matter?" she asked quietly. She refused to look at anyone. She wasn't a feelings type person. Emotions were confusing, especially when so many were swirling around.
Anto felt his heart sink when she said those words, but Captain Parris pressed on, pulling the pipe from his lips to say, "Yes, it does."
group
She sighed and rolled her head back, looking up at the ceiling of the cabin. "I don't fucking know, alright? Yes, I'm fond of him. But anything more… I don't know." She slumped against the back of the chair in defeat, sounding and looking so confused.
"This isn't me trying to hound you, Fane," he said, sitting down on his desk. "I just wanted to know if my crew was spreading fake rumors around on my ship. Who you become interested in isn't a concern. You may do what you wish as long as it doesn't impede your work."
group
"Feels like I'm being hounded," she muttered, then stood without being dismissed. "Are we done? It won't hinder anything. My job is all I've got, and you know that. I'm not stupid."
"Yes, you may. Show the new members of the crew to their cabins. Anto," Parris turned to the prince, "Go to Mercedes to make sure that your legs are healing properly."
Anto nodded and got out of the cabin as quick as he could. He had a feeling that Fane wouldn't really want his company at the moment.
group
Fane left without another word, stalking over the deck and barking orders at people that happened to be in her way. She found the new recruits and approached them.
Hugh stood next to white, his tree trunk-sized arms crossed over his chest as the two spoke. The sharpshooter stood by hisself, his hand pulled over his eyes.
Anto went to his cabin to see if Mercedes was in the room, a heavy frown on his face.
group
Mercedes was indeed in their shared cabin, fiddling with a dream catcher she was making. When Anto walked in and she saw his frown, she tilted her head and drew a frowny face over her lips.
Johnnie was now awake and slightly dazed, and hella pissed at the sharpshooter. Fane walked up to them and clapped her hands to get their attention. "First thing's first, introductions."
"Captain forced Fane to disclose her feelings towards me, and it did not go well," he explained, sitting down on his bed and groaning.
"I'm Hugh," the big man said, giving a friendly wave to the group of people.
"Me name's Mathais White!" White said cheerfully, his Australian accent on full display. (Just gonna make him the cray fucker)
"Ming," the sharpshooter said from where he stood, raising his hat slightly to look at Fane.
group
(Gonna skip Fane for now because I'm getting ready to do stuff)
Mercedes tilted her head when more and made a heart shape over her chest, then cracked it in two.
"She did not give a straight-forward response," he said, rubbing his chin. "She only said she was fond of me."
group
Mercedes pursed her lips and rummaged around for a piece of paper to write on. Once she found it, she quickly wrote down something and turned it around for Anto to see. "She has a hard time with relationships, friend or otherwise. She is likely confused."
"Well….how do I get through to her, then?" While his feelings were nowhere near as confusing, flirting wasn't his strong suit.
group
She flipped the page, scribbled something, then turned the paper around again. "From what I've seen, she already has feelings for.you. It's a matter of her understanding them. Catch her when she's vulnerable, when you're alone together. Ask but don't push."
He frowned as he read the paper. "I doubt it will be any time tonight. Parris has her showing the new guys around."
group
Instead of writing, she set the paper down and pounded her fist against her palm, then pointed to the ticking clock in their room. Make time. She loved her best friend dearly, and she wanted to see her happy—and from what she's seen, she was happy around Anto. She let her guard down around him. She spent her limited free time with him instead of by herself to wind down. They both seemed to have a sort of…glow…about them whenever they were around each other.
"I….suppose you are right," he said, getting up to his feet and wincing. "Afterwords, I think you should check my legs. They are hurting quite a lot."
group
She stood up with him and yanked him back by the back of his shirt, making him sit down again with a stern look. She wasn't letting him go if his legs were hurting, no matter how cute she thought him and Fane were.
"Why does everyone do that?" He asked, crossing his arms and pouting slightly.
group
She rose a brow and gave him a look. Everyone? she seemed to be saying, then grabbed a stool and pulled it up to him, tapping his legs in question.
"It's the knees," he said, pulling his pant legs up to show his knees. They were both red and puffy-looking, but nothing was broken, and none of the stitches had popped.
group
Mercedes tilted her head and examined them, tapping his knees here and there to see if they hurt whenever she tapped them.
He shook his head. "They only hurt when I put weight on them. Are they just sore?"
group
Mercedes pursed her lips, reaching up to run her thumb over her bottom lip in thought. She held up a finger in a wait a second gesture, then stood up and looked around for something. She eventually found a bucket of ice that Fane had brought for a bottle of wine—which was now empty—and a towel, then came back over to Anto. She put some ice into the towel and pressed it against his one knee, showing him what she wanted him to do.
