Cleo put her hands back together. "I already ordered the pizza."

"Okay then." She nervously started fiddling with the hem of her shirt.

Cleo turned her gaze down to the table, not thinking it would be this… awkward.

"Sooo….." She said awkwardly, still fiddling with the hem of her shirt.

Cleo glanced up, staring at Alice. "Um… you're… very pretty."

"Oh, um, thank you? and same to you." She said, blushing.

"Oh." She turned a faint red and smiled. "Thanks. Plus, you deserve it. I don't know why you were so nervous."

"Why do I deserve it?" She asked, smiling back.

"Because it's true!" She laughed gently and turned redder.

"Oh…" She turned redder.

Cleo resisted the urge to hide her face in her hands and looked away.

Alice looked away, still fiddling with the hem of her shirt.

Thankfully, they were saved by the pizza being brought over. It was large and it smelled delicious.

Alice took a slice and quietly started eating it.

Cleo took a couple slices and started on a first.

Alice kept eating quietly

Cleo ordered a couple of cups and they brought the cups over.
Cleo grinned at Alice. "My treat." She nodded at the pizza and the drinks.

"No, it's fine, I'll pay."

"I already paid." Cleo smiled.

"Fine." Alice sighed and smiled back.

Cleo laughed gently. "It's what you get for being late."

"It's not my fault I was late, it was because of the traffic."

Cleo waved her hand. "Anyway, it's already said and done."

"I know." Alice chuckled and kept eating her pizza.

Cleo took another bite of the warm pizza and smiled a little. I'm here with one of my best friends.

What if dad finds out I left the house? Oh god, he's gonna murder me. Alice sighed as she took another slice and ate it while thinking of what her dad would do when he found out about this.

Cleo glanced up. "Hey, are you okay? You have a bruise on your face."

"Yea, I'm fine." She quickly put a hand over the bruise to hide it.

Cleo narrowed her eyes a little. "Alright."

"Soooo….." She started awkwardly, not sure what to say.
