"I always am." Ace was wondering whether he should jump off of the ledge and scare them.

“Okay.”, she said quietly, and Ace could tell she was scared.

Ace swiveled around and stepped off of the ledge, in the room part, don't worry. He tilted Macha's chin to his, "Hey. I'm fine."

Skylar laughed. "ok." she said. She turned back to Peter, still giggling.

Ellis scampered off to the nearby bsthroom.

Peter kept his molten eyes on her.

"Okay.", she repeated, almost in a whisper. He could tell she was just as scared for him as before.

Blake coughed awkwardly. "They're too cute." He said dramatically to Frankie.

Ace smiled and hugged her, "We're all okay. And safe. The cheeseburgers prove it."

She nodded, trying and failing to hide her fear and worry. "Sorry."

"I love you." she smiled.

"They really are." Frankie rolled her eyes, but was pretty sure they were just as cute.

"Don't be."

Macha nodded, still trying to mask the emotions that threatened to spill over.

"I love you too.." he responded in a gentle, affectionate purr.

Ace stepped back and quickly covered up his bleeding stomach. "Blake, hey!" he tried a smile. "I'm fine."

"Can't you just lie down for awhile? Im going to make the nurses sedate you again, man. I don't wanna have to, but you're putting yourself in danger." Blake narrowed his eyes.

Skylar grinned, staring deeply into his eyes.

"No I am not." Ace was indignant, his hand covered in blood as he tried to shield his wound, "I'm fine!"

Macha intervened. "aCE, YOU'LL JUST BE IN THE HOSPITAL FOR LONGER IF YOU DON'T SIT DOWN AND KET THE DOCTORS DO THEIR JOB."

Frankie spoke up. "Macha's right. If you're so desperate to get out of here then you should follow the doctors orders."

Ace sat on the bed, "But Macha, I don't like this."

Macha was getting frustrated. "You think you'll like being dead more?"

"It couldn't be worse." Ace whined.

"You wouldn't have Macha though Ace…"

This put an immediate stop to Macha and she looked away, eyes welling up with tears. "Fine, Ace, have it your way." She turned and left the room.

Blake watched the scene in front of him, feeling as if he were intruding. "Macha…" He called out. He could see the fear in her eyes. He could sense the desperation for Ace to stay alive. He felt it too.

"Macha!" Ace groaned, "Never making a joke about death again." he ran after her.
