Fae grinned, leaning her head against his shoulder. He’ll be an adult tomorrow, and you’ll still be a teen. “You get to be an adult, lucky.”

"No, it's terrifying." He replied.
"You'll do fine. You get to go to university" A terrifying thought struck her. What if he lieaves for university? She shoved it down. YOU CANNOT MAKE HIS LIFE CHOICES.
"I think I might join the military, actually." He replied in a breath.
Fae’s heart froze but she refused to let anything show. “Huh.”, she replied. “How come?”
"I'm not smart enough for college." He answered simply. "Can't afford it either," he explained, picking lint off his pants.

Fae has no idea how to reply to that. “I don’t see how you think you’re not smart enough.”, she replied carefully.

He pat the top of her hand, then held it. "My teachers said so. And I can't stay mature on my own like that, so.." he leaned his head on her shoulder. "Maybe military'll do some good for me."
Fae nodded. “You know best.” She paused. “If you were to go to college or university, what would you study?”
He squinted for a few moments in mild thought. "Music and entomology."
Fae smiled, breaking inside for Cruz. “Not many people can say that.”, she grinned.
His smile returned to his face. "It's embarrassing to admit. But I like bugs." He half laughed, "Scorpions are awesome as hell."
Faw’s grin grew. “I like praying mantises!”
"Evil things." He smirked.
“Come on! You have to admit, they’re smart.”
"They make love and the guy gets eaten alive." He refuted with his humored grin.
Fae sighed, grinning. “Fiiiiine, you have a point.”, she huffed jokingly. “What about… dragonflies?”
"They're shiny," he smiled.
Fae smiled back. “Back when we lived in Canada, there was always this one dragonfly who was always in our garden. I would watch it from my window every day..”
"Just one dragonfly?" He laughed, "You sound so wistful." He lightly teased.
Fae swatted him. “I was 7!” She rolled her eyes. “I just miss Canada.”, she admitted.
"I miss Spain," he replied back.
“You probably have more of a right for missing. I literally moved over Niagara Falls while you changed continents.”
"I miss the bustle, mostly," he replied. "The colors."
“I’ve always wanted to go to Europe. ‘Specially Venice.”, she murmured. “It must have been amazing…”
"We should go someday."
Fae smiled wistfully as she leaned against his shoulder, eyelids fluttering shut. “That would be nice.”, she murmured.
"August wants to go back to England someday. That's where he was born,"
A smile lifted the edge of her lips. “S’where I was born too. I don’t remember it though, we moved when I was 3.”
He nodded a bit at that information. "What do you wanna do?"
