Cruz looked back to his companion.
Fae smiled, only a little shakily. "Sorry about him." She blushed at her father's previous comments. "He wasn't lying though."
"Awe. I'm flattered, Cherry,"
Fae scratched the back of her neck self-conciously, smiling shyly. She took a bite of her hot cross bun, glancing at Cruz. "So, you going to leave or sweet talk August into letting you stay?"
"Sweet talk," Cruz smickered.
"How? You going to call him?"
"Prolly, yeah,"
Fae smiled slightly, leaning back in her chair and humming softly.

Fae brought out a huge recipe book, plonking it on the counter. "Alright, you can choose a cake.", she grinned at Cruz, handing him an apron. Her fingers fumbled while she tried to tie her own, failing promptly.
"Uhh," he exhaled, looking through the pages.
Fae tied back her hair, rolling up her sleeves. "So?"
"I like this chocolate lava cake," he pointed.
Fae's lips pulled back into an amazingly wide grin. "I was hoping you'd say that! I haven't had a chance to make it yet, but it looks delicious." She clapped her hands. "Alright. I'll grab the eggs and the milk, could you grab the cocao powder and flour from that cupboard?"
"Yeah, sure thing," he replied coolly.
Fae got out the milk and eggs, as well as some extra ingredients, setting them all out on the counter.
He whistled lightly.
She grinned at him. “Icing and filling first it last?”
"Uhh, first?" He answered, wondering if this was a trivial question because either way he had no idea.
5 minutes later, they were almost done the icing. Fae brought out spoons and tube set, handing the spoon to Cruz with an eager grin. “Try the icing. No double dipping.” She gave him a stern look, but quickly broke out into a smile.
He smiled slowly, cheekily, spooning a mouthful. And then a second despite her warning.
“Cruz!” She brandished her full icing tube at him, grinning mischievously.
"What?" He giggled through his mouthful.
“No double dipping!” She laughed, leaping forward to squeeze a thick line of icing down his nose with her tube.
