Fae sat high up in the branches of a tall pine in the park, unfurling her wings and ignoring her intense fear.
The sun was high up in the sky, and it was pleasantly warm today.
She took a deep breath, steadying herself. It was only a gliding excersise, not flight. She leapt from the tree, spreading and relaxing her wings and gliding slowly but clumsily to the ground.

Fae took the flowers gingerly, a ridiculously wide smile on her face. “Thanks, Cruz. And I’m um, teaching myself to fly.”
"You are?" He smiled, "How's it going?" He interested.
Fae but her lip. “So-so. I’ve been doing exersises for about a month now, this was my first time gliding.”
"Good job, love.." he smiled.
Fae’s eyes sparkled when she heard his name for her. “Thanks. It was supposed to be a surprise but I guess it’s too late for that now.”, she smiled bashfully.
"It's alright. The pleasantries are still there, I think," he buried his hands in the sweatshirt pockets.
She tugged at his sweater. “You’re wearing soft stuff now.”
"Yeah, I am," he shrugged.

Fae scaled one of the large decorative rocks and balanced herself on the top, facing the wind, spreading her wings, and leaping off. She rode in a passing gust of wind, tilting her wings and banking so that she landed somewhat clumsily right in front of Cruz.
"Good job," he congratulated.
