Tay slid into a booth and called up the bubbly waitress with the long, curly brown hair and twinkling brown eyes. "Hey Carla! The usual?"
"Tay! Oh yeah, definitely! Do you want two?" Carla pointed at Vera and her eyebrow raised, "Is she your date?"
"No! No. Um..I..She's not..No. We're friends." Tay turned red and looked down.
Romantic/Realistic Fiction Roleplay, anyone?
(Bye till tomorrow)
Vera went red again. Am I? “Um, hi. I’m Vera.” She waved somewhat shyly. “I, erm, have never been here before, do you serve tea?”
Carla scribbled down their orders and laughed, "We have coffee?"
Maybe caffeine’s not the best choice for this late at night., Vera thought, scanning the menu. “Erm, could I please have a hot chocolate with minimal whipped cream?”, she asked, sliding into the seat across s from Tay’s.
"Uh-huh." Carla said, "It's too bad, Tay. I asked you out two weeks ago and you said you were too busy to be in a relationship." Tay reddened, "I am!"
"Mmm." Carla headed back into the kitchen.
Vera’s cheeks were still red when Carla left. She glanced sideways at Tay. “Do you come here often? Carla seems pretty nice.”
Tay grinned, his face still hidden in a deep blush, "Yeah, a lot. Every day, actually."
Vera felt the tiniest twinge if jealousy as she recalled Carla’s words. “So.” She started. “Where are you planning on going to university?”, she asked.
Tay leaned back in his seat, "Next year. I'm in twelfth grade, but I'm 17, and I'm in Eryon's science class to observe how teaching works."
Vera smiled at this. “I’m in twelfth too. I don’t know where I’m going to go for university though, considering the fact that my mother's will was never found and I doubt I have the money to go to a good one.”, she said, eyes wandering over the curves and corners of the cutesy cafe. “D’you have any siblings?”
"No. Only child." Tay leaned towards Vera.
Vera noticed Tay leaning towards her and decided to play along, feeling a rush of adrenaline as she put her elbows on the table and moved just a little closer. “I have a little sister. She’s ten now, was adopted about a month ago.”
"Ten. I was ten once." Tay shifted awkwardly in his seat, "What's your favorite subject?"

Same srry!
Vera couldn’t help but smile. “We had Poetry at my old school, definetly that. Now, it’s either Writing or Visual Arts. Or Latin.”, Vera replied. “You?”
Tay shrugged, "History, Art, English, Science, maybe Math."
“You just named half of them!”, Vera protested jokingly as Carla came back with their food.
Tay grinned, "What can I say? I like school. It's not just a place where I learn and see my friends. It's…an escape. From all my troubles at home."
Vera tilted her head, noting the change on his soft eyes. She bit her lip, wanting to comfort him, but she couldn’t find the words. She reached out a hand and squeezed his shoulder gently, saying I get it. with her eyes.
"Oh, no! They didn't hurt me! Maybe a few times, okay, more than a few times a year, but it's not abuse! They only call me bad names when I disobey their orders. It's-it's not abuse. No. It's not abuse." Tay seemed to be talking to himself, "It's not abuse."
Vera, although concerned and far from convinced, acknowledged this silently and withdrew her hand. Just then, Carla came back with their orders.
Tay smiled and took the two cinnamon buns, giving one to Vera and one for himself. He began to dig in, until Carla grunted impatiently, her eyebrow raised and her tray still holding a single vanilla milkshake. Tay pointed back towards the kitchen, "We never ordered that."
Vera took a bite of the wrm, steaming cinnamon roll, her eyes widening in pleasant surprise. “This is good!”, she exclaimed, thanking Carla.
"It is good." Tay smiled and waved at Carla as she brought the milkshake over to a different couple. "That's why I come here."
Vera grinned. “I’ll have to start coming more often, then.”, she said, taking a sip of the creamy hot chocolate.
"Don't forget to bring me." Tay slowly pulled apart the bun, separating the strands and eating them separately.
Vera raised a teasing eyebrow. “Some people would call that a date.”, she grinned playfully.
