Romantic/Realistic Fiction Roleplay, anyone?

Tay spotted Vera in front of him and enveloped her in a hug, "Let's go find a seat?" his voice came out muffled as his face was buried in her hair.

Vera could feel stares boring into her back as Tay hugged her. "Um, sure.", she replied, clutching her sketchbook (which she had brought to work on her rough draft for an art competition) to her chest.

Tay smiled, "Can you feel the stares?"

Vera blushed. "Unfortunately. I'm afraid you're too popular to be seen with someone like me.", she said jokingly.

"I am a shoo-in for valedictorian of the school, but I'm not exactly popular," Tay said as he led Vera over to a table full of popular kids, a.k.a. his friends, "I'm more of the smart kid at school."

Vera raised an eyebrow. "That group of girls –and one boy— over there suggest otherwise.", she smirked, watching the group glare at her.

Tay turned towards his friends, hand running through his hair, "I guess so! But it doesn't matter anyway." he sat down and motioned for Vera to sit down to.

Vera sat down, waving somewhat shyly at all his friends.

Tay immediately started to eat, while his friends talked to him.
"Tay, who's that?"
"Friend."
"But like, who?"
"Friend."
"OMG, Tay, stop it, who is she?"
"Vera." Tay continued to eat, leaving Vera to answer his friends questions.

Vera was bombarded with questions. Was she new? Was she Tay's girlfriend? Clutching her sketchbook ever tighter, she replied as best she could. "I just moved here, I'm new." Where did she live? "In a foster home, Eryon's place."

"Eryon." a girl with honey colored curly hair and blue eyes wrinkled her nose, "The crazy girl! She's a lot of fun!"

Vera shrugged, very uncomfortable in the midst of all these strangers.

Tay pressed a hand to Vera's back, "I'm here for you."

Vera felt a small surge of strength from the hand on her back. She cleared her throat. "What are your names?"

The girl with the blue eyes smiled, "I'm Kendra."
"I'm Kamè" a boy with dark skin and high cheekbones smiled at Vera.
"Wolfe, Felix Wolfe." A boy with pale blond hair and blue eyes winked at her.
A beautiful girl with green eyes and rainbow hair grinned at Vera, "Bridge."
"Loilai" the brown-eyed, brown-haired girl with thick eyelashes held a hand out to Vera.

Vera shook the hands, a bit intimidated, but warmed. Her eyes flickered to Bridge. She's gorgeous! Kind eyes, too.. "I-I like your hair."

"Thanks," Bridge said, chewing gum and smiling.

They all seemed so nice! Tay’s lucky to have suck good friends. “Erm, sorry if I come off as rude, I’m very socially awkward.”

"It's okay."
They were still introducing themselves. Two twins with fiery red hair and violet eyes smiled, "Ault and Auden Elwood."
"Kyli." a short girl with short blonde hair and gray eyes smiled, but kind of creepily.
A boy with red hair and headphones nodded to acknowledge Vera's existence.

There were so many of them! Loilai seemed to be the most approachable, bit so did Kamè. “Nice to meet you all”

"Nice to meet you too!" Loilai smiled and Tay smiled at her, silently thanking her welcoming nature.

Vera’s mind was reeling from all the names but Loilai helped bring it back she looked around the table, trying to memorize names and faces. Guy with Headphones, Loilai, Bridge, Wolfe, Kamè, Kyli, Ault, Auden, Kendra.

Tay smiled at Vera and continued eating his rice.

Vera took out her small lunch, and her sketchbook tumbled out of her grasp, almost landing in a puddle of something orange on the ground. She snatched it up quickly, frantically checking for stains.

Bridge smiled and walked over to Vera. "Nice book! I was thinking, do you want to have a chat?"
