Ash shuffled along with Jordan. The silence weighed him down, and he racked his brains for something to say.

Jordan walked across the parking lot with Ash, glancing over at him a few times but quickly looking away. He could feel his hands involuntarily sparking.

Jordan's gaze flicked his way. "So… are these recent burns?"

"Uh, yeah. I got this a week ago I think," he answered gesturing to his bandaged arm. "It's stupid, I know." He laughed nervously, embarrassed by his injury.

Ash shrugged. "We all mess up, ya know. It's common." Ash bit his lip. "I flooded my classroom once."

Jordan laughed. "That's not that bad," he said, smiling at him.

"With everyone in it. Half the windows cracked under the pressure of the water."

"Yikes," he said. "At least you're okay though."
