(As in she was going to read out there alone)

"Yeah, sure." She turned back to Eve. "Meet you in the stables once the guests are gone." She faced Brianna. "Shall we?"

@CWTurtleOfFreedom

“We shall,” Bri smiled. The two girls, books in hand, strode out to the gardens.

Rae walked happily along with Bri. "What are you reading?"

"Yeah, sure." She turned back to Eve. "Meet you in the stables once the guests are gone." She faced Brianna. "Shall we?"

"Okay, see you later!" Eve called after her as she left. Eve turned and continued exploring the castle and the gardens. She hadn't gotten much time to explore since she'd gotten here and she wanted to take the time to get away and relax.

Maxon took the crown off his head, and adjusted his suit just a bit. He was planning to go down to the dining room, looking to get some strawberry pastries. Maxon wanted to get his mind off all the work he had sitting on his desk. He walked out of his room, nodded to the guard posted there, and made his way downstairs.

Eve continued to walk around the castle and walked past the kitchen, noticing that the castle cooks were preparing a giant cake for the guests tonight. "Can I help?" she asked the chef in charge.
"Of course child." She smiled at waved Eve over. She began stirring the batter, preparing for it to go into the oven pan. She and the cooking staff spent the next hour laughing and decorating pastries and preparing the dinner for the guests.
(Sorry, I decided to do a small time skip XD)

(that's okay!)

Sam headed to the dining room to grab some pastries. Screw the rest of the Selected, who needed friends when you could have food?

@CWTurtleOfFreedom

Rae walked happily along with Bri. "What are you reading?"

“Re-reading, actually,” Bri said. “It’s one from before that I found, A Wrinkle in Time. “

@JustAPandaWithALife

Maxon heard the doors of the dining room open and whirled around, knowing that his father would scold him if he found out that his son was not working. Seeing that it was only one of the Elite girls, Sam, (Maxon doesn't know that they are agender, does he?) he let out a sigh of relief.
"Good evening, Lady Sam," he bowed politely, whilst hurriedly chewing the bite of pastry he had just taken. He looked at her outfit, and let out a small chuckle. "Not in the mood for dresses, I see?" He said, raising an eyebrow.

(Nope) Sam shook their head, eyes wide. "Maybe later, but not now. I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but I don't want to be squished into something that I'm not,"

@JustAPandaWithALife

Maxon chuckled again. "Yeah, neither would I. I don't understand how women could wear those. And high heels! I mean," he paused, and looked at Sam bashfully. "Sorry, I don't know what came over me." There was a pause of silence, and Maxon gestured over to the table. "Pastry?"

Eve offered to help wheel the cake out into the dinning room after it was finished. When she walked out, she noticed Maxon and Sam there before she hid behind the rather large cake, not wanting to be seen. She sat there on the ground behind the cake, waiting for them to leave or at least not look her way so she could leave the room without them noticing. She just didn't feel much like talking to anyone having to do with the Selection today, she was tired of being here, but she knew she had to stay for her family, they needed the money.

Sam grabbed one. "Thanks! And yeah… I like dresses sometimes, but if I had to wear heels 24/7, I'd freak,"

@JustAPandaWithALife

Maxon rocked on his heels, at a loss of words. Ever since the Selection started, he always got tongue-tied, even with his own mother! He wasn't used to all the girls roaming around the place he had called home for the past eighteen (right?) years. "So do you know what the other girls are up to?" He asked, trying to start up a conversation again.

Sam shrugged. "Sizing each other up in the Women's Room. Though I saw a couple heading outside and one girl went to the kitchen,"

Eve heard them taking about the girl who went to the kitchen and her heart almost stopped. What if they know it's me behind the cart she thought, hoping they hadn't noticed her yet. She waited until they weren't paying attention then she took off her heels and ran back into the kitchen hoping that taking off her heels would create less sound and she would be less likely to get caught.

@JustAPandaWithALife

Maxon looked over at the dining room doors that led to the kitchen, noticing them swinging shut. Right outside the doors was a huge, perfectly frosted cake that towered over his head. Figuring it was probably for the guests arriving that night, he didn't think anything of it. "Hmm, okay. And what have you been up to today?" He asked Sam. "Surely it hasn't just been this, eating pastries," he teased, jokingly.

Eve ran back to the kitchen staff to let them know that Maxon was out in the dinning room and that she didn't want to be out there if he was there. "Oh darling," the head chef told her, "I understand. I'll take the cake out there for you. Don't worry." she assured Eve, but feeling bad, Eve followed anyways, knowing the cake was heavy. Still barefoot she left the kitchen with the head chef and helped her push the cake along the wall of the room. Eve quickly walked back into the kitchen, making sure to not make eye contact with Maxon or Sam who were still talking.

"Ha, I wish," Sam said airily. "The maids are nice, but we're currently arguing if I should wear a dress or not, so I thought I'd escape to the Women's Room, only to find that the people there made me feel far more inferior than my maids did,"

@MusicalFate

(Hi! is there still room for me to join?)

@JustAPandaWithALife

(I would say yes, but it is up to @wake-read-eat-sleep I believe)

@JustAPandaWithALife

"How are the other girls? Personality wise. I feel like it would be good to get a different view on all of them than just what I have gotten on a few dates. They don't think I know, but I can tell when they just want the crown." Maxon sighed, but shrugged. "My father doesn't care who I choose, as long as they would make a good ruler."

“Aw. Well, you should. Want to borrow it after I finish?” Bri asked.

Rae's face lit up. "I'd love to. I've always been interested in literature." Not that I had much of a chance to get into it.
