"How are the other girls? Personality wise. I feel like it would be good to get a different view on all of them than just what I have gotten on a few dates. They don't think I know, but I can tell when they just want the crown." Maxon sighed, but shrugged. "My father doesn't care who I choose, as long as they would make a good ruler."

Sam realized that their judgement of them had sounded too harsh. "Well, to be specific, only one that I've met has been outright snobby. The others seem pretty nice. Maybe I was a bit too quick in judging them,"

"Only one, huh?" Maxon decided that the topic that they were on at the moment didn't seem to joyful at all. He glanced at the clock on the wall. "Well, it was nice talking with you, Lady Sam," he said, bowing once again. "But I must be getting ready for the guests. They could arrive any time in the next hour or so."

Sam winced slightly at when Maxon said 'Lady Sam,' "Well, bye, Your Highness. I hope that we see each other again in the future,"

Rae's face lit up. "I'd love to. I've always been interested in literature." Not that I had much of a chance to get into it.

“Great! i only have a chapter left, so in a few minutes.” Bri replied.

Rae arched an eyebrow, impressed. "You're a fast reader."

“Not really,” Brianna said humbly, blushing a bit. “I’ve just had a lot of time on my hands. You know…” She let her voice trail off.

Rae nodded slowly. "What did you do as a Three back home?"

“I was a writer. Stories, mostly. Fiction. You?”

"Painter and sculptor. Painting mostly."

“Nice. A five, then?”

Rae nodded and smiled bashfully. "Yeah."

“I’ve always wanted to be a five,” Bri said. “Sounds stupid, I know.”

Rae raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

“Art is funner than trying to devise new storybooks every week.”

Rae shook her head. "I'm sure that's not true."

“You’d be surprised at how quickly you run out of new storylines,” Bri said quietly.

"You'd be surprised at all the things that come with being able to paint for a living," Rae said in an unintentional sharp tone.

“I’d be willing to live with the bad conditions and low pay grade if I actually got to do what I wanted to,” Brianna snapped back, but then she took a sharp intake of breath. “Maybe lets not talk about this anymore. You never know who could be listening.”

Rae shook herself out of it. "I'm among the poorest of the Fives. And you're a Three. I'm sorry if that sets me off." She took a deep breath and smiled sweetly. "Anyway."

“Are you excited for the guests?”

"Very. Have you finished organizing your reception?"

“Yes. It should be fine, though I’m still nervous.”

"Obviously. Who are you with?"
