What was IKEA? Laurie smiled, catching a glimpse of her reflection in the windows. She looked impossibly scruffy next to Kanoa, clothes torn and dirty, sandals battered. She blushed in shame.
Urban/Modern Magic and Fantasy Roleplay!!
Kanoa caught Lauriel's line of sight and her breath caught, "Lauriel! I was wondering if you would come with me to a party that my sister's boyfriend is throwing! It's supposed to be really cool, because he's like part-demon."
Party? Her? Laurie blinked, sincerely confused. “Aren’t parties only for people who do their jobs and keep their head low?”, she asked, quoting her human parents.
"Parties," Kanoa threw an arm around Lauriel, "are for incredibly awesome and classy people. Like us!" she struck a pose, hand on her hip, hair swaying around.
Oh., Laurie thought, giggling at Kanoa. “I-I’m not so sure about classy, though.”, she said sheepishly, glancing down at her clothes and tangled hair.
"Let's go SHOPPING!!!!!!" Kanoa squealed and then grabbed the pumpkin strudel out of the oven, cutting up a piece and handing it to Lauriel. "We're gonna have so much fun!"
“Shopping?”, Laurie said, surprised and very pleased. “It— I don’t have any money to pay you back!”
Kanoa bit into her slice of pumpkin strudel, motioning for Lauriel to eat hers. "Consider it an investment towards your friendship."
Laurie took a bite, the delicious flavour seeping into her taste buds. “Thank you!”, she replied. “And this is delicious!”
"Awesome!" Kanoa pumped her fist in the air and grinned.
Laurie grinned back, much more relaxed now. It wasn’t like she had anywhere also to go. This was way better than living in the streets.
"I say, we go right now!" Kanoa started babbling. "I love the AberZombies and Fitch store across the street and-Ooh! Shoes! The Glass Slipper is my favorite place! And I just love the thrift store that's one block away! It always has the best clothes!"
Laurie felt herself be lifted up by a rush of excitement. What are you doing?!, her mind screamed. “Sure.”, she agreed shyly, happily.
'YAY!!!!!!" Kanoa smiled and then grabbed Lauriel's hand, "You can take a shower here if you want?"
“Yes please.”, Laurie replied. “Where— Where is your bathroom?”, she asked tentatively, not wanting to torture her new friend with her disgustingness any longer.
Kanoa grabbed Lauriel's hand and she led Lauriel throughout her house, stopping at the bathroom. "I magically enchanted the shower-head to go to the exact temp. for the person who's taking the shower!"
(I gtg sorry!)
“Whoah.. Thabk you so much for everything, Kanoa. Really.”, she said gratefully as she stepped into the bathroom and closed the door.
Five minutes later she was enjoying the feeling of warm water trickling down on her.
Kanoa fed Pauka and pulled out her potions spellbook. She might as well work on her homework.
A few minutes later she was done, dried, and dressed in her old clothes (which she had washed and dried as well) as she stepped back out into the hallway.
Kanoa instantly threw a dress at Lauriel. "It matches your skin!"
(feel free to make up what the dress looks like)
The movement caught Lauriel off guard and she just managed to catch the beautiful dress before it fell to the ground. As soon as she saw it, she gasped softly. The dress was a deep, navy blue much darker than her skin, shot through with dark cream and almost brown-gold so that it created a gorgeous marbled effect. It had spaghetti straps and a high, tight waist with a smooth, float skirt that fell to her knees. “Are— are you sure you’re letting me wear this?”, she breathed in wonder.
"Yes! I wore it to prom a while back, but I thought it might fit you until we go shopping and you can pick your own." Kanoa gave Laurie a thumbs up.
When Laurie looked up, her eyes were filled with wonder. “Thank you…”, she breathed. “I-I’ll go put this on now.”, she said, in a daze.
"Mhm. My room's over there, you can change in it." Kanoa pointed at a wooden door covered in fairylights.
Laurie nodded distractedly, enraptured by the dress.
(Could you describe her bedroom please?)

She has a bed that's pushed into the corner and is covered in books and has a galaxy comforter, a bookcase filled with not only books, but random potions and decorations. She has a faux fur floor and the back wall has a glass door that leads to a beach (not real, magical) She has a walk-in closet that's filled with pastel dresses and shirts and tucked into the right corner is a large brass cauldron that has dragons embedded onto the surface and a large witch's hat hangs by the door and on the wall next to her bed is a dresser with a huge vanity-style mirror and on top of that is a bunch of jewelry and diaries and random knick-knacks and next to the dresser, there are three broomsticks
(Whoah, that sounds really cool!)
Laurie got dressed in Kanoa’s room, looking around at it in wonder. “Wow… She’s so lucky..”, she murmured as she studied herself in front of the mirror.
