Amelia snickered at his words. She continued to savor his hold on her. After a moment, and without realizing it, she started dozing off.

Amelia stirred a bit as he covered her up.

“Damn, I was enjoying that hug.”

She then fell back asleep.

Amelia snuggled up against him. Her arms wrapped around him again, trapping him, whether he liked it or not.

When Amelia finally wakes up again, she stares at Keigo in confusion. It takes her a moment to remember what had happened earlier, then she smiles.

Amelia kissed him on the forehead, not knowing why she did that. She then giggled at herself, before once again watching him sleep. She savored the sensation of his strong body in her arms, it made her feel strangely safe.

Amelia jumped at the buzz and Keigo’s sudden movements, then nodded at his words, shifting out of his way.

After he lft, she sighed and rolled onto her back, stretching then lounging.

“Danger? What danger, Toaci? I know Keigo has those seizures, is that what you mean?”

Amelia sat up to face the bird’s cage.

“Red zone?”Amelia asked.

She considered the words for a moment. It likely had something to do with his seizures, maybe a warning that one was imminent. She hoped it wasn’t too bad, though she only had barely an inkling of what a seizure was like.

Amelia turned when the medic entered, instinctively tensing a bit. She then calmed when he started to speak.

“It’s alright. Toaci was talking about a ‘red zone’. Is Keigo alright? I don’t know much about seizures, so…”

Amelia grabbed her braid and fiddled with it, concerned by the news. The thought that black could… she didn’t want to think about that possibility. She just hoped he was okay.

“I’m glad it was caught early. And thanks for the warning.”

She watched Toaci as the medic let him out, smiling a bit at his pretty feathers.

Amelia chuckled shyly, gently petting Toaci with a finger.

“I honestly don’t know what to say to that, but I am a friend to Keigo, so… I guess it makes sense.”

Amelia blinked at the medic’s words. Was this the same woman Keigo had mentioned before? The one that died, supposedly because Keigo had seized?

She wasn’t sure if she ever wanted to bring that conversation up, but… Keigo probably wanted to avoid asking her about her previous relationship for the same reason. Did he? Or was it just too early to speak of either? She couldn’t tell anymore.

“Well… I was raised to never leave a friend behind, so… I don’t think that sort of… unfortunate situation… will happen with me. And, I’m actually glad Toaci seems to like me. He’s pretty and sweet,”she said, a bit shyly at first, but her voice leveled out when she changed the subject.

Amelia’s eyes widened. Questions flooded her mind, but she quickly shut them down. Though, one question did nag at her. His seizures had started again? That means he once had control of them. That this woman could have restarted… what was with her?

She pushed those questions aside, deciding it was better to not mention them for now.

“I won’t tell him. It’s sad, truly, that he has that mindset, but… I think I can kind of relate,”she said, turning away shyly.

She snorted.

“Yeah. Let’s just say, most of the men I’ve known have betrayed or exploited me in some way. Particularly the previous one, the bastard. This big scar on my neck… he gave me that. I shot his leg off in retribution. But anyway, honestly, the only man I’ve known that hasn’t tried to exploit me, at least, yet, is Keigo,”Amelia sighed.

She looked away again, fiddling with her braid.

Amelia turned, gazing at Keigo with concern. She shifted, sitting on the edge of the bed and giving him plenty of room to lie down if he wanted to. She then started to chuckle shyly.

“I was telling him that you’re the only man I’ve ever known that hasn’t tried to use me in some way,”she answered, her voice becoming quiet, her words sincere.
