She rolls her eyes. "Trust me, she'll do that often." You are being disrespectful to your one true savior. You are lowly trash, insolent mortal.
"The hell does that mean? One true savior?" Havenwood looked at Elise with an eyebrow raised.
"Apparently she thinks she's the one that will keep me from crashing and burning. Honestly though, I think she's the one that will cause me to crash and burn." What do you mean, stupid girl? You'll be sorry if you don't take some heed of what I'm telling you now. You'll rampage to your death. Do you ever shut up? No.
Havenwood rolled his eyes. "That's really dumb of her."
"I know." You too, lover boy. You're encouraging her to do all the stupid things that logic tells you not to - the same things I have. "Oh god. What if she starts talking to you, too?" Elise buries her head in his chest again.
Hey fuck off, chick. Havenwood snarled suddenly at her, ignoring Elise's worry.
Who gave you authority? Conscience mumbles, but stops talking. Elise looks up. "See? My own conscience is scared of you." She grinned. I won't be gone for long… But the voice fades, chickening.
You'd better be, Havenwood growled protectively.
Hm. Lo- But Conscience thinks better of calling him names and for one blissful moment, shuts up. Elise looks up. "Thank you. You sounded very threatening." There's no response from Conscience. It's amazing.
Havenwood kissed Elise gently, realizing then how protective he was of her.
Elise returned the kiss, smiling. Then she pulls away. "Thank you. You seriously don't understand how amazing it is to have that thing out of my head for a while." She grins at him.
Havenwood pulled the hair out of her eyes. "You're welcome. I'll try my best to help you evade her."
Hear that, Conscience? We both hate you. No response. "This is amazing."
Havenwood smiled. "It is, huh? It is pretty great."
Elise laughs and leans her head against his chest. "Peace and quiet."
Havenwood ran a hand through her hair with a gentle sigh. "Peace and quiet indeed."

It was morning and Havenwood was still asleep, Elise had woken up a couple minutes earlier.

Elise had gotten used to Havenwood's morning snores and didn't move from beside him. As usual, Conscience's morning thoughts bombarded her. She liked her annoy her before Havenwood was awake.
Morning, princess. What's the plan for today? Hanging around with lover boy when you could be pursuing a future? Elise sighed. She'd learned not to argue. Careful, you might wake him up before you've even drilled AVID into my mind.

Havenwood twitched awake groggily. Hey, Conscience, could you fuck off? I'm trying to sleep with my girlfriend.

Conscience growled. Fancy seeing you tonight, princess. And their minds were quiet.
"Oof, burn." Elise smiled. "You're getting good at that."

I don't want to see you tonight, Conscience. Havenwood relaxed back into Elise with a sigh. "Am I?"

"Yes. She's gone as soon as she hears you nowadays." She chuckles. "We talk about her like she's a different person."
"She might as well be, love." Havenwood pulled her closer.
"Ever so true." She snuggled into him. "She always annoys me whenever you're asleep. She tells me I'm kinda worthless. I tell her I'm in love with a greek god and live in Olympus."
"You tell her, Elise," Havenwood mumbled. "You're really important, especially to this war and me. Don't let her tell you that."
"Oh, I know. She was around before all this, though. In the city. That's when she got me." She looks up at him. "But now we've switched roles. I'm the dominant one now. Before…not so much." She shook her head.
Havenwood hummed gently and pulled her hair out of her eyes. He then kissed her forehead tenderly.
