Darius shrugged and walked away.
June waited for Darius to be out of hearing range before she spoke, "It was my brothers, he and I took care of Dare, I mean, he does need to be taken care of..but we were all together in the camp with a few others, it got ambushed and we ran, Darius went one way, me and Dev, my brother, went another. I wasn't paying attention, but next thing I know, He got attacked by one of..those and died." She said sadly
Gus listened solemnly. "I'm sorry t' hear that," he said. "I think it's real nice of you to still try 'n look after Darius after all that. You, uh, you kinda seem to be keepin' this a secret from him…..is that true?"
June sighed, "if I told him, he would forget, and he would ask me 'where is Devon?' and I can't…do that. I can't tell him over and over again, 'he is dead', it hurts…I tried, but eventually I just gave up"
"Right." Gus could understand that. There were definitely downsides to the condition Darius had. "I guess that's fair. I'd prob'ly do the same, if I was in your shoes." He glanced at Darius, who had wandered off. "Well at least he seems like a real nice kid. If y'need help watchin' out for him, lemme know. I ain't too sure what tomorrow's got in store, but I think we might as well team up as long as we're livin' together."

Jez's face heats up "w-what?" He scoffs "I mean..thank you." He says, embarrassed now. Though it made his chest feel all warm. The fact that the person he was so protective over actually cared for him. It meant something special.
"I missed you too" he admits "I was hoping you'd come up here"She turns to him and offers him a soft genuine smile, good job Jez. "Of course..i didn't want to push so i just came up here after intensely staring at the other two for a bit…." She moves to look back into the distance again, though she has a slight smile.

Gus grinned and tipped his cap. "Jus' gimme a holler anytime. There don't seem to be many humans left anymore, so I figure we should make sure to keep the survivors alive no matter what." After all, this town held the first people he'd met in a very long time. There had to be something special about them if they'd made it this far, despite any outward appearances.

Elodie gives a fake pout, jutting out her bottom lip in mock sadness, she handed the bowl to Jesse and said "noooooo my ceeeeereaaaaaaal" with a loud burp.
She then giggled uncontrollably, and she plopped down heavily on her mattress, she laid backwards, her back touching the bed, she patted the spot next to her indicating it was for Jesse.
"We should cuddle…no homo though." She said, a sly grin on her face.
Jesse's face heated up to a bright red "vhat?" She exclaimed, shaking her head "I don't cuddle" she says, turning around to go put the bowl back in the kitchen.
She returns to sit on her bed grumpy, her arms crossed. She turns to Elodie, looking down at her "this's all you get" she says stubbornly, though tempted to lay down, her body sort from keeping watch all night.
She was a bit tired but there was no way she would let herself fall asleep with nobody else around but a drunk.

Elodie sighed and laid down, curling into a ball, and laying on her side, her breath was ragged and she tried to control it, taking deep; calming breath.
When her chest was moving at the height and speed it was supposed to she opened her eyes, and slowly dragged her vision to Jesse, who sat on her bed next to her, looking exhausted and her resting bitch face in place, like always. She watched Jesse for a few moments, through squinted eyes.
"Hey" she said sitting up and placing a comforting hand on Jesse's shoulder
"you should try to get some sleep, I'll keep watch" she said, her words not the slightest bit slurred anymore.

"yeah, i watched them from all the corners of the store i was hiding in, and from behind the big guy." She looked up, slightly giggling at the joke, "i asked them a bunch of questions..but i think, there alright, for now at least. She said she wouldn't hurt anyone." She scooted closer to Jez.

Jesse layed down beside her but shook her head "no. I'll just stay here" she says, her arms behind her head now.

Elodie shrugged, removed her hand then closed her eyes, soon falling to sleep.

"yeah i mean the big guy," she said after some thought, she looked back out into the distance. "Well, after asking them a bunch of questions i kinda got the gist she really didn't want to hurt anyone.." she shrugged a little bit afterward. "i don't know if I fully trust them, but I understand her in a way." she said the last bit a little bit quieter.
Gus noticed Darius fiddling with a lighter and turned, walking over. "Hey there. Y'know what that is? It ain't any safer than that fork you were swingin' around earlier." He wasn't sure whether Darius's memory loss applied to knowledge about dangerous objects or not, but he wasn't going to risk letting him start a second fire in the neighborhood.
Darius flicked the lighter on and off a few times before putting it in his pocket, “good survival tool, isn’t it?” He asked, thinking that he had the information about it right, but not entirely sure.
June finished with her sword and put it back in its sheath that sibling across her back and started sharpening her arrows. They were metal arrows, so that they would last longer and do more damage. So basically all of her weapons were made of the same black metal.
"Well yeah, it can be kinda handy if y'know when to use it. Starts good fires if you got th' right tinder 'n stuff." Gus decided Darius would be all right, he seemed to be at least slightly familiar with the tool. "They do run outta fuel though, so I like flint 'n steel better for campin'. More reliable. You know how t'use flint?"
"Flint's got a trick to it, but it's real nice once you figure out how to make a spark." Gus half-chuckled. "Looks like you have a knack fer findin' sharp 'n dangerous things. Do you know how t' fight?" He was curious at this point, wondering where the line was drawn when it came to Darius's memories and learned skills. Clearly he could walk and talk without being taught how every time, so there must be some point where a skill stuck even when other things were forgotten.
