Overview
Calliope Janes
Apprentice
Female
22
Looks
135
5’7
Cotton-candy pink with dark black roots growing out
Shoulder length, cut into messy layers, usually hanging every which way around her.
Golden-green
Permanently tanned
Muscular, toned
A noteworthy smattering of tattoos up her arms and legs, everything from seemingly random words and phrases, to playing cards to fantastical creatures.
Nature
Crinkles her nose and snorts instead of laughing, bites the insides of her cheeks when she’s thinking. Always ‘checking’ on people, their facial expressions, tics and mannerisms; hyper aware of her surroundings.
Grand, long term ambitions aren't really her thing, driven instead by an intense dedication for understanding, and improving the world directly around her.
Stubborn, inflexible, and unconcerned with emotions; she has little concern with offending others, and her easily bored and explorative nature can lead her to manipulate and escalate tense situations.
Dull or overbearing personalities; if someone doesn't interest her she's not shy about conveying it.
Collecting information and making plans; she's super observant of her surroundings but also a spontaneous sort, making her unusually useful in crisis situations, or ambiguous territory.
Tinkering with...just about anything. Electronics, art supplies, food. She likes to keep her hands and mind busy.
Calliope is a creative and energetic person, though likewise intensely private and difficult to get to know. She'd prefer silence to small talk, if given the choice, preparing to interact with and explore with actions instead. She always has some sort of project she's working on, either physically or conceptually, and so she is constantly tweaking and maneuvering the world around her.
When she does speak it is direct and to the point, with little interest in the emotional intricacies of the moment, whatever they may be. Infinitely curious, boundaries mean little to her; she has few herself and doesn't consider those of others. Each overstepped line is simply another data point to add to the collection.
She does enjoy those who take an interest in her passions, and will share her space and ideas with an equally inquisitive mind. She quickly succumbs to boredom, however, so staying on her radar can be a challenging endeavor.

History
January 20th
High school drop out
Calliope was born to a drug addicted mother who promptly abandoned her and her brother in a Motel 6 when the burdens of parenthood became too great. Or at least, that's what she'd always been told. It made sense, considering her first memories are that of her first foster home and anything that came before it was, at best, a memory of a memory by the time she thought to consider it. But it was all for the best, she imagined.
Calliope fared relatively well, for a kid in the system, a fact of which she was well aware. Most families she ended up with were, at worst, indifferent, and her own taciturn nature, even from a young age, kept her from having the 'troubled child' stigma that followed many of her peers. Her brother wasn't so lucky, but his more emotional outbursts gave her the cover she needed to retreat into her own world.
That's not to say she didn't come with her own set of challenges; academia always bored her, and, left to her own devices, she had a tendency to tinker. Anything was fair game to her astute eye and wandering hands. Toys, lamps, the living room TV; every foster family came home to find something they liked disassembled. The harsher families had it the worst. So much as one sneered barb at her brother and soon...well soon they'd find themselves at each other's throats instead. It was all the same, really. Once you knew where to stick the screwdriver, you could pull anything apart.
That made it all too easy to blame her when her sixth, and final foster family's house went up in flames. It could never be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be anything beyond faulty wiring, and in fact, it wasn't. But the reputation followed her, regardless. The group home was more to her liking anyway.
She dropped out of school the second she aged out of the system, just months before her expected graduation. Her counselor wasn't shy about his expectations that she'd be in prison before her twentieth birthday. But with the alternative being getting knocked up, instead, like many of her roommates...hell, that didn't sound half bad.
But she wasn't an idiot, either. She found a couch to crash on, a job at a restaurant just down the road, and her life unfolded exactly as she'd pictured it. She had freedom, something to do with her hands. Best of all, anything and everything was subject to change, whenever she wanted it to.

Environmental; her abilities grow stronger when around large bodies of ice or water. The blood in her veins alone is enough to call upon her powers but the farther removed she is from her element the weaker her magic and the more physically taxing it is to perform.
