when he gets excited or worked up he talks super fast and starts stuttering (not unlike his sister). for some reason he falls down the stairs a lot.

The pressure that his parents put on him motivates him the most. simon's desperate to be the best, to show his dad that he's successful, to make his sister and mom proud. He wants to keep his family in their high level of privilege and prestige.

he's extremely proud, and gets angry at the drop of a hat. he's aggressive and often ignores other people's feelings due to his own inner anxieties and worries.

he's a sports wonderboy. he plays soccer, football, lacrosse sometimes, and does track. he's also decent at academics, but he doesn't like to put a lot of effort into it. he was put into piano lessons at a young age, so he's quite good at that, but doesn't play often anymore.

he enjoys watching movies and tv, and he is the leader of the film club at his school. he likes playing various types of video games.

Simon is ethnically Jewish, and had his Bar Mitzvah, but when it comes to God he's entirely atheist. he doesn't read or follow the Torah anymore or really identify with the religion, but his parents are rather religious (although they don't show it to the public), and he enjoys most of the holidays.

Simon doesn't know a ton about politics and honestly he'd probably lean Republican, because of taxes, and that's what's best for his family (wealthy, white Jewish zionists) - at least until he heard what Trump's whole "locker room talk" thing. every time it resurfaces, someone has to convince him not to march down to DC or mar-a-lago and kick the bastard in the head.

his most prized possession is a rather expensive grey jacket he bought on a trip to Alberta. he only wears it when it's very, very cold (which is rare).

he went back to his elementary school to help out at a sports summer intensive. he also worked at McDonalds for about a month, but would deny the crap out of it if you asked him.

Felicity - has known her since about 3rd grade. met her through Selene and grew a (requited) crush on her in 8th grade. their personality types definitely clash a little bit because they are both very dominate.

Raj - Simon usually just takes him along for the ride. they're not very close but still friendly and Raj is always welcome at 10 Crescent Drive.

Simon grew up with a tight schedule. He spent his days running between friend's houses, sports practices, shul, and tutoring (at least in elementary school). he spent the majority of his time exploring the nearby park with friends and sister, and he finds solitude climbing trees and spending time in nature. Simon is a charming, gentle guy (if not a little aloof). his parents' goals for him spur him to do better in everything he does. he often worries his life of privilege won't last, or that something will happen to cause their family's security to vanish. while his grades aren't perfect, he still does well in his classes, and manages to scrape by without needing tutoring. when he was younger he had to compete with his sister in school, and harbors a little bitterness that he pushes down deep. he still feels jealous of her, for the attention she gets from their parents.
He can be a little too proud or out of touch sometimes, and takes his friends for granted, but is extremely loyal and protective. He has a group of friends in every setting and loves to spend time with them. His love languages are physical touch and quality time.

He moved a few times, and his favorite house was the one on Cape Cod (which the Siegel family kept and visits there every summer). he loves to surf with his sister and cousin Ezekiel.

Since Simon grew up so close to his sister Selene, his world and mind was rocked after she was assaulted. He was her only consistent person she could go to for support, and he took on so much of her grief, that his mind didn't come out much better than hers did. Simon's anxiety acts when he feels helpless or unsafe, and he lashes out and gets aggressive.

Simon's paternal grandfather came to America from Poland when he was about 20 years old, and had Nick a couple years later. Nick's mother died shortly after he was born.
Simon's maternal grandparents were born in Virginia to two old English/Irish Colonial families.

nobody ever calls him Nikolai, if they're using his middle name they say 'Nick,' I just wanted to put his full name.
