== Early Life ==
Xander's former clan, the Igne clan, has its roots in the Molten Scar, where his clan made profits selling rare ore to other smiths in the region. Xander himself was a fisher, one who fished for ore, but a stray drop of lava scarred his leg, hurting his ability to traverse the molten landscape.

No longer being able to work put a damper on his spirits, not to mention that the wound hurt like all hell, but in trying to treat it, he found something else of value. With no official medics, Xander was left with whatever medicinal herbs and supplies the Igne had laying around. Nothing the Igne had would work for him, save for in mild cases, so he tried combining various supplies.

He ended up going for a combination of a refined poison, to numb the pain; a nondescript jelly, for easier application; and ground chickweeds, to cancel out the itch from the poison. The result of his experimentation was satisfactory for ignoring the pain, but over some days Xander noticed that the wound wasn't any closer to healing. With all the free time he had, Xander took it upon himself to refine the solution he had come up with. He worked to separate the parts of the poison that made him itch from the part that numbed, he purified the jelly, and he ground the chickweeds more finely for easier application.

Xander's revised solution had him back on his feet quicker than predicted — 3 weeks from when he first got burned compared to the predicted 6. He was given the clear to work again, but he decided for himself that, instead of delving into the magma again, he'd continue his foray into medicine.
