- Grew up on the Isles of Nariel
- Father died before she was born and she was raised by her mother, who was a miner and mage
- Her mother was one of the few in the community doubtful of Petranos Silmarin
- Ione was a magical prodigy from a young age and ended up helping out in the mine every so often
- Her mother gave her her amethyst pendant as a gift for her 18th birthday
- Soon after, her mother was murdered by Petranos Silmarin but Ione was told that followers of the Outer Gods killed her mother to get her to follow Petranos
