Invades human settlements to consume energy from power plants and other sources. Will abandon a site if it stops producing energy, or it finds a greater source. Mandibles are used to cut cables /chew infrastructure; has a proboscis for proper feeding.

Raiju began as a massive, subterranean larva somewhere beneath Japan, slowly draining underground power cables. For months, Raiju caused unexplainable blackouts through her feeding, storing the stolen power within her body so that she could pupate. Though Japan enjoyed nearly three years of peace, that ended when Raiju emerged from the ground in her adult firefly state, and immediately sought out the main power grids.

Mandibles are serrated and more akin to a beetle's. Primarily navy blue, its eyes, wings, and abdomen are yellow, while its joints, neck, waist and hands are purple. Has two pairs of arms, with the bottom being smaller; top pair's hands have three digits, while the bottom's have two. Legs are reverse jointed. Abdomen's top is covered with dull, pyramid-shaped growths giving it the appearance of a club.

Typically uses a hunched/raptor posture, with abdomen used as counterweight.
