Overview
Gourmantis
Gourmantis is a portmanteau of Gourmand and Mantis, the former referencing both his disturbing and disgusting cannibalistic eating habits, and his general love of food, and the latter referencing his close resemblance to the Mantis, notable because this species is one of many insects that have a tendency to cannibalize their own mates after reproduction, befitting of someone like Gourmantis.
Gourmantis, the Gory Devourer
Goremantis, Creepy Creeper, Creepy Cannibal, Food Savant,
the Gory Devourer,
Psychotic Cannibalistic Insectoid Inventor
Gourmantis’ personality orbits around the notion of Feasting, Indulgence, and Cannibalism hidden under the veneer of Hedonism. He will get convinced of anything if he thinks he’ll be guaranteed dinner. His scientific credentials are mainly him building devices to enhance his hobby
[Male]
"You know kid, there's something just pure about just not caring about Morality.
You can say without any deceit or lie, that I have no regrets.”
- Gourmantis is formally aligned with the Intellan faction despite his incongruity with the faction only being mitigated by his admittedly brilliant inventions for use in his twisted hobby.
Percievable Characteristics
Gourmantis' voice is very loud, shrill, and high-pitched. When he talks, everything in the nearby radius can hear him in all his repulsive glory. He sometimes attempts to use complex and obscure words, although this does not disguise the simple articulation of his dialogue, relapsing into his default thuggish method of speaking.
Gourmantis is around 18 Feet Tall, being slightly taller than the average height of a Mecharus. In his Mechanized Exo-Ambulator, he is around 26 Feet Tall.
Despite what others may ascertain from his eating habits, Gourmantis is not particularly heavy compared to his comrades, being at an average weight
[Mecharus]
Stats
Gourmantis' theme is that he believes everyone will succumb to their animalistic instincts, and that they should embrace that part of themselves.
Gourmantis also advocates that focusing on the now is preferable, and that any major Delayed Gratifications are merely a fallacy.
These themes make him an interesting enemy to Io, as deep-down inside, she actually believes the same things that he does, at least to a certain extent with the second one.
This, coupled with Gourmantis' obvious sociopathy, made obvious from his cannibalistic habits raise an unsettling question.
"Are his beliefs from his Sociopathy or is his Sociopathy derived from his beliefs?"
Both answers are uncomfortable. On one hand, if his beliefs are really rooted in his Sociopathic nature, is Io a similarly mentally unstable individual in a different more subtle way?
On the other hand, does Io holding these beliefs for a long stretch of her existence turn her into a Sociopath?
Inner Psyche
Gourmantis can be obsessive with his goals. Nothing will deter him from carrying out what he wants, for what he wants, the way he wants to do it. This can sometimes put him at odds with others, and more annoyingly, himself.
Gourmantis is also consumed by the instinct to devour others in order to satiate himself. He has made efforts to stop this, but his efforts prove unsuccessful for the most part. This has largely ceased any of his efforts to suppress this instinct, much to his frustration and the horror of others.
Gourmantis' philosophy is to disregard all pleasures that are not guaranteed, and focus on those that are readily available in the present, he also believes that one should get rid of higher reasoning, giving into their animal instincts.
Gourmantis fears the slow, pitiful method of death that is starvation, as well as being deprived of the euphoric pleasure given when Gourmantis devours someone.
- Gourmantis possesses a high metabolism compared to most Mecharus. This metabolism was given to him by Xerxes during the extensive body modification that Xerxes promised would give a more powerful, agile, and evolved body that would
History
Gourmantis has eaten many individuals whether human or Mechanical Being, he engaged in property damage, was responsible for the mutilation of The Paralyzer, and has violated several guidelines both in the Alkaline Games and according to the Current Combat Conduction Conventions, entailing a large list of War Crimes after his escape from PentaCorp.
Gourmantis has throughly angered The Paralyzer, whom which it blames both Io and Gourmantis himself for his mutilation, having to reconstitute his own face, Gourmantis, much to the ire of his Intellan Allies, has also drawn the attention of the Global Affairs Enforcement Alliance (GAEA), forcing his allies to make even more secretive bases, Gourmantis also attracted the attention of Io, who wants to stop his amoral eating habits, not wanting anyone to get caught in the crossfire of Gourmantis’ madness ever again, although to variable success depending on specific encounters/circumstances.
Social
Gourmantis has never given a thought to Religion, finding it an morality-provoking obstacle that impedes his Euphoric Devouring.
Gourmantis prefers fellow Mecharus and Humans for his meals, but if he is not able to get them, he will eat anything considered edible, as everything is fair game to his eyes.
Gourmantis is aligned with the Intellans, making various weapons and tools that help both the Intellans and his habit of eating everybody he comes across
