History

Background

Ares was created by PentaCorp via the ConPlier on March 10, 2047 as the commander of the PentaCorp Militaristic Peace Division.
During this time, PentaCorp was involved in a Corporation War with several other PMCs such as CombiNetworking, Viros Militant Hardware, and Quetzal Military Technologies.
This had necessitated a field commander for the Mecharus troops they had at their command, as while they had many soldiers, without an imposing and obvious leader, they would fall into disarray.

Ares was trained via a series of instructions uploaded to his mind via the AI ExpositOS, these instructions taught him everything that he needed to know about his life, his mission, and his purpose.
The instructions fed him data about battle tactics, tactical position, the best weapons, the best stealth strategy, the best philosophy in combat, and amidst other nuggets of information.
But most importantly, they reminded him of his function.

As the destroyer of the impurities, as emissary of war, the Omega, the beginning of the end held by the string that decides when it will happen.

Ares took this to heart during his training, he embraced the cycle of war and destruction very early into his existence.
In his eyes, he was the ultimate solution, the Mech that kept his hands dirty so that the world could keep clean, he was the unbiased annihilation of all that was unfortunate enough to stand in his way.

Even in his current body, which had average durability at best, he was still a force to be reckoned with on the training grounds. Ares used the twin railguns on his arms and the small missiles throughout his chest, limbs, body, and back to blow up enemy vehicles from more than a 100 feet away.
If his enemies got into closer range, then he would deploy the twin mini-guns located in the middle of his railguns to critically wound human forces, and if they prove to irritate Ares, then he would use his massive crab-like claws to tear vehicles in half and his titanic feet to crush them like bugs.

This doesn't even take into account the three handheld weapons that he gained as a gift on his first birthday.
Ares has a massive cleaver which is almost 2/3rds the height of his body equipped with a blade that is constantly 900 degrees Celsius.
This would allow him to shear through the composite metal ores that most Vehicles, armor, and Mechanical Beings are made of like they were made from Swiss cheese.

Ares also has two guns, both of which cover two kinds of firearm that you wouldn't want to meet.

His first gun is the HX-9 Assault Unloader (Ares), it is a massive Heavy Machine Gun used in long bursts of AP ammo that breaks through the armor, allowing the weapon to whittle down what remains of the opponent to scrap parts. It is extremely effective at close range, and when enemies try to fight Ares, they go for this weapon first to avoid getting pumped with lead.

His second gun is the HX-10 Surgical Rifle. Whereas the HX-9 Assault Unloader specializes in the close range and rapid obliteration of enemy contacts, as its name suggests, the HX-10 Surgical Rifle is used to snipe off limbs with powerful cannon rounds that can blow off limbs and penetrate even the most durable armor alloys if utilized correctly. This weapon trades the high fire-rate of the HX-9 Assault Unloader with an even more powerful damage output.

So all in all, Ares had the intelligence, the weapons, and the ruthlessness to be the commander of the Mechanical Warrriors that PentaCorp had primed him to be.

After 3 years of existence on the Earth, it was now time for Ares to conduct his first excursion against one of PentaCorp's many rivals.

Ultimately, it was decided that Ares should attack Quetzal Militant Technologies, as they only had advanced combat vehicles and non-sapient combat drones compared to Viros Military Hardware's advanced Military Droids and CombiNetworking's second iteration of their Masquerader Robots, making Quetzal Militant Technologies the least risky option.

Ares would be sent into battle with his men, which had many Mechs among its roster, The Warper, No Name, Twin-Head, Detrax, Psychotron, ArachniDOS, Bone-Plower, Gore-Crusher, Grind-Out, Grindel, Scraplord, Circuit Lord, The Victimizer, and Spinner-Strings being just some of the Mecharus that would partake in the battle.

Once deployed outside of the Quetzal Tech Headquarters, Ares would order his men to forcibly enter the facility, most would blow up the wall that they were at, some would launch themselves over the barrier, and others like Duplicitor or The Warper would use their unique powers to find another way to breach security.

Once inside, they would fight a valiant war against the many Quetzal Employees piloting land artillery, helicopters, and jet fighters, the Mecharus would plow through the drones, whilst they were shooting at the Mechs with semi effective HEAT bullets, the Mechs were ripping into the drones with snipers, missiles, and machine guns; some of them would even engage in melee combat with the drones.
Amidst all this, Mecharus like Eye-Gore, Grind-Out, and The Courier would assume transportation modes by scanning the schematics of downed vehicles.

These initial enemies were destroyed, but at the cost of some Mechs that were invariably struck down by the enemy forces.

After they were taken care of, the Mechs led by Ares would go inside the main component of the Quetzal Headquarters. They would loot the place of resources, prototypes, blueprints, data, humans, and currency; Ares and his minions would help themselves to the cryptocurrency and he would allow his servants to indulge in their victory.

There was only one problem...

Quetzal Tech had created emulations of the Masquerader technology that they stole from CombiNet. While these copies lacked the ability to scan the schematics of a pre-existing vehicle, they made up for it with sapience and sheer raw power.
Six of them were stationed at the Quetzal Tech HQ just in case something went wrong.
They were codenamed DALAX, Xoltor, GARROS, O.R.T.Z, Kezadilla, and Arrowhawk.

Kezadilla would explode out of a Quetzal VTOL Tilt-Rotor Helicopter and distract General Twin-Head and his troops.
Arrowhawk and O.R.T.Z would erupt from their Quetzal Aerial Jet and Quetzal Mobility Assault Tank modes and would torment Circuit Lord's army, which contained the majority of forces.

Finally, Ares and his guards Decapitator/The Cutter, Gripper, Cycnus, Crabtor, Triggerfinger, and Karkinix would face off against the three remaining hostiles who remained in transport mode, those being Xoltor, the Quetzal Electric Jolt Assault Vehicle, GARROS, the Quetzal Unmanned Armor Piercing Destroyer, and last but not least, DALEX, the Quetzal Mobile Armored Armament Launcher.

The Decapitator and Gripper would fight against the large tank GARROS, managing to damage his transportation mode to critical levels, forcing him to assume his main robot mode.
This was overshadowed by the fact that the Decapitator and Gripper couldn't kill GARROS, as GARROS possessed a thick resilient armor that was largely immune to AP ammunition as well as HEAT ammunition, rendering both of their ranged weapons close to useless until they could break through GARROS' armor.
However, this issue was a comparatively small problem compared to GARROS' main offensive attribute: his ability to entrap individuals inside himself via the massive holder of agony within his chest.

GARROS would bombard the Decapitator with missiles before finally shooting him with his massive turret cannon.
This would heavily damage the Decapitator's chest, disabling him long enough for GARROS to plunge one of his fists into Decapitator's chest region, taking him out of the fight.

During this fight, Gripper would find an opening in the fight and jump on GARROS; Gripper would then tear off three rocket pods and one of the shoulder railguns before GARROS reached to his back and grabbed Gripper.
GARROS would then rip off Gripper's upper arms and then step on him. After GARROS did this, he then trapped Gripper in his internal cage as a hostage before returning to the incapacitated Decapitator and decapitating him.

Social

Relationship with Subordinates

  • Ares finds Crabtor to be a very useful tool for espionage jobs that he himself is too large or too bored by to complete himself.
In terms of personality, Ares can tolerate his kleptomania, as he uses both his large intimidating frame and unrestrained tendencies to ward off any funny ideas Crabtor has. Ares also made Crabtor agree to a Contract to further dissuade attempts to commit thievery against him.
While Crabtor is a nice pawn for missions where sending in more competent personnel would pose an unnecessary risk, Ares isn't at all concerned for his safety. After all, if Crabtor somehow gets killed, then it's his fault.

Quotes

  • "Nothing like some blood, sweat and tears to appease some fears!"

  • "Let's say hypothetically, you're wrong!"

  • "Good luck with that Cattle-Cakes! But just so you know, the path to peace is paved with the pursuit of war!"

Notes

  • I only now realize that the placeholder image for Ares's upgraded form when rendered by the AI image generator bears a resemblance to the SOL-644 unit piloted by ALLMIND in Armored Core VI's Alea Iacta Est boss fight with the blue elements swapped out with red.
I guess that explained why I picked this image from the rest.

Trivia

  • If Ares was in the Hunger Games with other robots in place of humans, he would probably kill 5 of his fellow tributes and struggle to find the rest. At least according to the Simulator.
