History
The beast that would come to be called "Thoraizin" was the very first kaiju encountered by humanity. Emerging from the ocean off the shores of Shingu, Japan, it immediately began through the city, making its way inland. Buildings in its path were quickly demolished, and anything else that could be was crushed underfoot. After a few hours, the monster turned and went back to the sea.
Two days later, the monster came onto land again, this time the coast of Owase. Armed forces attempted to defend the city, and though their weapons proved mostly incapable of harming it, it eventually retreated to the ocean after a few hours. When it appeared on Shima a day later, Japanese air forces engaged the monster, a skirmish that lasted until an electrical energy emission from its mouth wiped out most of the squadron and tore through buildings. The creature eventually returned to the ocean, and was dubbed "Thoraizin".
Two days later, Thoraizin made landfall near Hamamatsu, and the military arrived to attempt to stop or slow it down. Those monitoring the situation noticed that unlike before, when it had no clear direction, it now seemed to be consistently moving in a straight line eastward when possible. Thoraizin's projected path put it on a collision course with Omaezaki, and the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station—the destruction of which would be catastrophic. Over the next 24 hours, the JSDF moved to put as much in Thoraizin's way as possible.
Two miles from the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, at 6:45 AM, Thoraizin was finally killed by the military after having devastated four cities and killed tens of thousands of people.
Notes
A yellow-brown theropod dinosaur with blue eyes.
While its head is shaped like a carnivorous dinosaur's, it has elements of alligator snapping turtles. Its eyes are on the sides of its head, and its jaws lack discernible teeth, instead growing into a number of small fang-like protrusions. Protruding from each cheek is a dark tusk, pointed outward before curving back in and forward at their halfway points. Its neck is longer than that of most theropods. Its shoulders are bulky, almost resembling pauldrons with three spine-like protrusions on each. Its arms are surprisingly well-developed, and almost as long as its legs, and its hands each have four fingers with long claws. Its hips and legs are appropriately powerful, and its feet large with three clawed toes. Its tail is fairly long, ending in a semi-flat, fleshy ring housing a red jewel. The ring has four dark spines protruding from it, and continues into a needle-like point. Its tail is normally held parallel to the ground.
Erecting from its back are a pair of large, wing-like projections, curving forward, with another pair of much smaller ones located by its hips. Each shoulder has a minor, bulbous growth atop it; from the tip of each a short rod-like growth can emerge, themselves tipped with crystalline globes. A single line of dark spines runs from the back of its head to its lower back, and another runs from the base of its tail to 2/3 its length. Upon its wing-like growths, neck's undersides, its belly, and the underside of 1/2 its tail's length are a number of black indentations. These indentations, along with its dark tusks and the spines on its body, glow bright cyan when it uses or charges its powers.
