History
After China experienced its first attack in Shanghai, its government began working on a better way to drive off future kaiju invasions. Taking note of the fact Shanghai's assailant appeared off the coast, the People's Liberation Army desired to create a mech that was fully operational both on land and in water, and turned to the sea for inspiration - ultimately settling on the humble crab.
As most kaiju at the time bore resemblance to cold-blooded animals, the mech, named "Typhoon Hammerclaw", was equipped with cryogenic missiles that theoretically could weaken their metabolic processes. The mech was equipped with a large armored claw for one arm, while its left arm was instead made into a homing missile launcher. While its claw arm is equipped with a particle cannon, its main purpose is as a melee weapon and grappling tool - battering or holding kaiju in place to be assaulted by its missiles.
Thanks to its rotational base, Typhoon Hammerclaw can quickly change its facing without having to move. The mech's six legs allow it to move in any direction, and have synthetic diamond tips to allow easy travel across any surface. In case of an emergency, each of its six legs can be jettisoned, and the mech only requires at most four of them to safely move about on land. In water, the Typhoon Hammerclaw can either travel along the floor with its legs, or propel itself with the various jets built into its body and base.
The Typhoon Hammerclaw is actually piloted by two people, that being the sister-brother team of Jie and Ling Shaw; of the 4000 potential candidates, they were chosen for their outstanding grades and strong bond with one another.
Jie (杰) is the sister, and elder by two years. She controls the mech's movement and claw arm, as she excels at improvisation and has better reaction times. Jie takes her brother's suggestions seriously, but prefers action to sitting about. She draws as a hobby, and has a dream of making comics. Surprisingly okay with her brother's pill bug tank.
Ling (灵) is the younger brother, though he tested slightly better. He controls the mech's weapons systems, as he excels at strategy and is better at long-term planning. Ling likes to approach every problem with a plan, and as such exerts caution whenever possible. He has a sweet tooth. Fond of insects, he cares for a tank of pill bugs in the room he shares with his sister.
Notes
A crimson mech, with a ovular saucer body mounted on a round, rotational base.
The body lacks a discernible head, instead possessing a single green eye at its front. Along the top of the body is a round hatch, concealing a ring of six missile launchers. Attached to the body's right is an almost disproportionately large machine arm, with the forearm being bulkier and resembling a crab's propodus. This arm possesses pincers, which conceal a beam cannon. In place of a left arm is a fairly simple 6-barreled missile launcher.
The base itself is fairly simple. Attached to the base are six armored, insectoid legs, broken up into two segments. Each leg's second segment terminates in feet comprised of three separate toes.
Indentations housing propulsion jets can be found on the body's front, sides, and back, with additional jets located on the base's underside, and on each leg.
Strength: 7
Speed: 4 (land) / 6 (sea)
Armor: 6
Weapon: 5
Mobility: Terrestrial, aquatic, submersible
