Nature
Drinking, playing the bódhran (he picked it up in the late 1800s), writing in his diary, inventing torture devices, "creative murder," experimenting with his powers, writing really weird horror stories, and making random ink splotches (and/or graffiti.) A fashionable psycho; can kill in a suit and flatcap or skinny jeans and hoodie either way (unlike most of us.:()
A smooth D4 accent mixed with Mayo. He's a heavy drinker and despite being smaller, can hold it quite well. He smokes (occasionally) and has a tic in his left eye whenever he's annoyed. Addicted to pain-relief drugs and a major foodie. Sleeps on his side and writes about his life (though it gets increasingly twisted as he gets older.) Bi. He 's incredibly polite and well-educated.
"One-upmanship," revenge, a lust for power and the need to be in control. Grief and rage.
Alcoholic, calculating, vindictive, power-hungry, sensitive, mentally unstable, sadistic, and manipulative. Also a terrific liar. (Schizophrenic- sort of.) Cathal is allergic to peanuts, which he found out the hard way in 1985 when his fourth death occurred by asphyxiation.
Has a grudge against Englishmen (his brother died in the 1641 Rebellion) and anyone who he thinks have wronged him.
Don't be fooled by his exquisite and (seemingly) inhumanly beautiful face- there is something much, much worse underneath. He's wearing a magical mask to disguise his true appearance. Multilingual, a good bódhran beater, gifted writer. He can turn into ANYTHING (even inanimate objects) by transferring his mind into them. He tends to call this method "banjaxing" because those not strong enough to withstand his mental assault usually end up driven mad. Can skillfully psychologically manipulate his victims.
Ambivert. Suave, urbane, and charismatic, Cathal can talk anyone- or anything- into doing his bidding.

Notes
Cathal was the bastard son of the daughter of one of the highest-ranking lords in the Gaelic nobility of Ireland. Often teased for his unknown father, who was reputed to be a demon, he spent most of his childhood as an outcast with his brother Ruadhrí and the fair but wild Aoife. As a teenager, he began to feel the stirrings of darkness inside him, as well as the tug of the light- a direct result of his mixed heritage, as his father was Bres, the child of a goddess and a Fomor. He increasingly struggled with the voices coming to him at night, telling him of the power and influence he could have, regardless of his status as a bastard, if he turned to the Fomorian side. His first murder continued to haunt him; when he was ten years old, he strangled a priest with a snake he'd summoned. Aoife (now his love interest) sensed this and attempted to steer him away, but the breaking point came when he was fourteen: A year after his beloved brother's death, his uncle, convinced he was demon spawn, and his mother, who was ashamed of her ruined reputation, conspired to murder him. His uncle came while he was sleeping and attempted to stab him, but Cathal awoke, driven by a dark voice inside his mind, stabbed him back. Convinced the world hated him, he joined the Fomorians and carried out his first mission- killing his sister Emer. Aoife, angry and bereft, confronted him on the hill of Tara and tried to pull him back to the light, but all shreds of good left in his heart were gone. Heartbroken, she knew what she must do; she slew him in single combat with the help of her wolves, which he never forgave her for. twenty years later, he woke up in Dun Balor surrounded by the grinning Fomorians with wires running through his arms. Thus began a very dark and never-ending path for Cathal as he became one of the most infamous (though unknown to most) assassins in history.
Cathal has a disturbing habit of drinking/licking the blood of his victims. He may have eaten a human(!) brain at some point
He's fond of psychological torture and often loves driving his victims mad and breaking their spirits, no matter what it takes, as well as slow, painful torture he invented himself- the shackles, "exploding stuff just for the lads", broken glass, slow flaying, "break-heal-break again", lemon juice, tiny cell, and thumbscrew are some of his signature techniques. He invented a terrible torture cell; very large and filled with personal and physical demons such as invisible acid vats, twisted memories, gigantic shredder, sudden claustrophobia, dismembered bodies, and the personification of anger- think a cross between "Silent Hill" and "Amnesia".
He dislikes white clover and lavender b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶r̶e̶m̶i̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶A̶o̶i̶f̶e̶
He likes to collect the bones of his victims as tasteful decor; for example, a piano with the keys made entirely out of the bones of his victims.
He has been blamed for various misfortunes such as the bomb that killed Ciarán's uncle Aodh and the death of Micheal Collins, among other things.
Yes, he does look like a younger Cillian Murphy. I am aware of that.
