Nature
Andrei is a methodical and cautious and his mannerisms reflect his personality. He moves quickly, each step the same size as the last; and with a grace that would convince most he is a machine. During conversation he tends to keep his hands clasped in front of him, his arms unbent.
When he feels as though he is talking to someone of little intelligence he will often lean inward toward them and walk circles around them, doing his best to maintain direct and unflinching eye contact.
Andrei wants only the further pursuit of his craft. His sole reason for existing is to use his extraordinary genius and skill to bestow intelligence on his artificial creations and to improve upon his designs with each iteration.
More recently, Andrei looks to retrieve his stolen notebook which was taken from him by his son, Boris Velkov.
Andrei is a proud, haughty, self-important and arrogant man who has let his talent usurp everything else in his life. He views most people as idiots and considers himself a step above even those he would call friends.
He is consumed by a pride and dedication to his craft. This drive has blinded him to the realities of the world in which he lives, a world in which his creations are used to subjugate many hundreds of thousands. It is possible he does not know the extent of his benefactor's cruelty but it is more likely that he does not care. Andrei has always believed that the ends justify the means, and he sees the Empire as a stepping stone to realizing his potential.
Andrei's only true prejudice is against those who would stand in the way of his work. Unlike the nation he lives in, he shares no distaste for non-humans. He does not seek the eradication of the elves nor the subjugation of the dwarves.
Andrei Velkov is the world's greatest Arcanist and mechanical engineer. His ability to create sentient life out of inanimate metal and crystal exists nowhere else in the world. He is the father of the Omicron series of Imperial Automatons. Each of these powerful creations is the result of hundreds of hours of difficult study and labor on his part, and he is constantly working to perfect his already formidable skill.
Andrei cares little for petty distractions and his work often utterly consumes him. The only thing capable of drawing him away from his labor is his love of art. When he is not actively working he will often paint until inspiration for a new project strikes him.
To those he doesn't know, Andrei is cold and distant. He watched others as though they were one of his experiments. His gaze is once of immense scrutiny and even those who know him relatively well often feel uncomfortable around him.
Social
Andrei is not a particularly religious man. Though he does not deny the existence of the gods he does not respect them; to him the true mark of godhood is the ability to create life. In his eyes, he as achieved this mantle and so views the gods as nothing special.
Andrei cares little for politics. Though he is affiliated with Imperium Aeternum he has no love for his benefactors. He merely feels he must associate with them as they are the only global power capable of providing him the necessary funding and supplies for him to continue his research.
