Nature
Most of Boris' information on the outside world came from the stories he was read by his elven nanny. He grew up listening to elven folktales such as Aharch and the Amber King and stories of knights and dragons. As such he has developed many of the over-the-top tropes of these old fairytales and tends to interact with others without thinking first.
Usually his brash and forthright introductions come off as somewhat silly and he often rushes into dialogues he is not yet prepared for, as he tends to assume that his knightly mannerisms will instill awe or fear into whomever he is speaking to.
On occasion this bold approach to diplomacy has landed him and his allies in a great deal of trouble but perhaps even more alarming is the fact that, more often than not, his approach works.
In contrast to his bombastic conversational tendancies, Boris is extremely neurotic to the point that any unknown or unforseen circumstance can genuinely throw him off his guard. His paranoia is not unfounded, as he has spent his entire life chased by his father's mechanical creations and has often been the target of assassination attempts by parties aligned against his cause.
To say that any one thing motivates Boris would be a gross oversimplification of his nature. The factors that push him onward toward his ultimate fate are numerous and varied, but they all tend to stem from one root cause: his father.
When Boris escaped Castle Jupitus and made off with his father's research notes he had no idea where he might go or what he might do. He was motivated only by a need to get as far away from his old life as possible.
When his talent as a swordfighter and his distatste for the Empire landed him an opportunity with the Rebellion he found a new purpose; he found a cause that he could devote himself to.
It would be easy to claim that he allied himself with General Drakovya to spite his father but it is likely not that simple. In truth, Boris' machinations are his own and he speaks little of why he has chosen the path that he has. Sometimes it seems he seeks wealth, sometimes it seems that he seeks fame and yet other times he appears to give his whole heart for a single cause.
There is no doubt that he now has more reasons to fight than ever. Now he has found a place in the world: a society and a group of close friends and allies that accept him for the half-breed that he is. Whatever motivates him now will likely remain a mystery, but his dedication is certainly unwavering.
Ever the product of his upbringing, Boris' greatest flaw is his unwillingness to trust others. While his reserved nature has sometimes worked to his benefit it has proven a difficult obstacle to overcome in his employment with a large scale military orginization.
He can also be exceedingly greedy. On more than one occasion his lust for material gain has gotten himself and those he leads into considerable peril. He is difficult to motivate if he feels there is no personal gain to be had in the undertaking.
Aside from his obvious and fairly reasonable distaste for the Empire and its agents Boris has recently developed a strong dislike for the elves he once cherished. Once upon a time, idolized his elven ancestry as the one thing that seperated himself from imperial barbarism, but upon discovering that pureblooded elves view his kind as an abomination he has since changed his once glowing association.
Boris, like his father before him, is a gifted mechanical engineer. Though he lacks any formal education on the subject he often poured over his father's tomes and notes during his downtime as a child.
In addition to his uncommon mechanical skill he is an accomplished strategist and is exceptionally good at formulating effective plans of action on a moments notice.
Boris prides himself on his martial talent. His skill with a blade has far surpassed most of his age and education.
If you asked his friends, they would tell you that Boris' only hobby is taking inventory of his rapidly growing fortune. In truth much of the treasure and money he has accrued during his employment with the rebellion has been used to fund that very same cause.
He would never let anyone know, but Boris has the soul of a poet. His youth spent listening to fairy tales and epic poetry nurtured within him an appreciation for the arts. He has kept a detailed journal of his life from a young age and despite being an ametuer artist he enjoys sketching his travels during his downtime.
Social
Boris isn't a particularly religious man. While he shows no disrespect towards the beliefs of others he spent his life in ignorance of religion and has grown up without worship. To him, he's done well enough without the favor of the gods; he may as well keep going.
