Jaire is selectively mute and only talks to a few certain people. Aside from that, he mainly communicates by writing things down in a notebook that he keeps on him.
When he gets nervous, he rubs his face, plays with his hair, or wrings his hands often without realizing.

Easily intimidated, very insecure and self conscious (especially about his selective mutism and his appearance).

Jaire is very timid and reserved. He has a hard time trusting others, but once he opens up to someone he is very friendly and caring. He also has a good sense of humour although this is a side to him that most people never see.

Jaire was born and raised in a slum town. His mother died when he was very young which left him to be raised by his abusive father. His father often got frustrated with him, as he didn't understand why Jaire was refusing to talk to people.

When Jaire was 10, he was taken away by his universe's equivalent of
Child Protective Services. He was brought to a facility where he was living with other kids who had been taken from their parents. The facility was meant to be a temporary place for him to stay until a foster family was found for him. However, due to his inability to speak with most people, he was deemed unfit to be placed with a foster family and stayed at the facility for another two years.

He grew extremely miserable during these two years. He was often bullied by the other kids and humiliated by the staff. Jaire eventually managed to escape, but had nowhere to go and ended up living on the streets for a few months. One day, after getting badly injured in a fight, he met Ryselle- the ringmaster of a well known circus. She felt bad for him so she nursed Jaire back to health and offered him a position with the circus. Feeling like he had no other choice, Jaire accepted the position. He was trained to become an aerialist by Solque, who he became very close with.

A year later, following his first performance, Jaire was recognized by one of the staff members who had looked after him during his stay at the facility and explained that he needed to come back to the facility. Both Ryselle and Solque tried to convince the staff to let Jaire stay at the circus but the staff member made it clear that doing so would be a breach of policy and they wouldn't allow it and Jaire was brought back to the facility.

This time, he knew that he couldn't run away, but Solque came to visit him almost every day, sometimes with Ryselle. After only a few months in the facility, Solque's parents stepped in and offered to foster Jaire. This allowed Jaire to return back to the circus to continue his training.

Dropped out of school when he was 13.
