Asthma, which is worsened for a period of time in the story by his inhaling smoke from the fires in the attack on his village; higher end of mild severity, persistent symptoms. Main triggers: cold dry weather, large amounts of exercise, viruses, smoke and other certain substances that can be inhaled; does not have allergies. Rarely becomes dangerous. It is basically the reason he is a healer and not a fighter, because when he was young, he was sick a lot more often and they were afraid to push him too hard in training, much less throw him into battle when the time might come. However, his physical prowess otherwise made him perfect for healing on the battlefield. As far as treatment goes, he has messed around with a lot of medicinal herbs, fungus, and blood/other substances from animals known to have healing properties. He has a wide range of things that he can use to keep his condition from worsening, but he's not sure about taking any one thing long-term, as they haven't been thoroughly studied yet, and he refuses to die before his time.

Has some nerve damage in localized areas, including a few spots on his arms, on on his leg, and another on his lower jaw, all from 3rd-degree burns. This doesn't affect his movement much, but he does feel a lot of numbness in these places, and sometimes burning stabbing pains; it is more uncomfortable than debilitating. They will probably heal for the most part, but this could take several months or more

Born to a single mother; his mom was with a man who got her pregnant at 19 and left. He was not born in a dragon village, but when he was about 3, his mom was struggling to support him, and she, knowing she could talk to dragons, tried to find someone who could help and was accepted into the village.
Galen was always a good fighter, but his health held him back a lot, so they groomed him to become a healer instead.
He was set to become the head healer of the village when the attacks occurred and he lost everything.
