Background

an outcast alchemist was exiled for tricking living beings to be his test subjets, hired tieflings (because of their natural intellegence and endurence) to be a part in his experiments, and promised to pay them a substantial payment afterwards. Needing money and shelter, Malron agreed and was the thirteenth subject.

Once he followed the alchemist to his lab he asked what the man was trying to do. The man said that he was trying to find a way to have tieflings summon a weapon at-will, when Malron asked what happened to the other subjects the man was silent until he arived at a table fitted with staps to hold somebody down. He replied that they were fine and well-off somewhere else, Malron reluctantly got onto the table and the straps clamped around his wrists and ankles.

the next moments were a blur. but when he woke up he had blades portruding fom his arms. the last words he heard the scientist say was "Much has improved from the last failure" then Malron blacked out. when he woke up he could remember nothing but the experiment and while being mentored by the alchemist, he was completely desensitized and lost some of his ability to feel pain.

After a frustrating year for the alchemist (because the pupil could not summon a weapon) he decided to kill the student because he was another failure, but when he struck Malron killed him easily. When he left the lab he could only remember "13" when he tried to remember his name, so he went on as 13 being a very powerful foe because of his intelligence, ability to shape his bones into blades and his enhanced regeneration (including regenerating bone and ligament, all side effects of the experiment). He was forever known as "The Man of Blades".
