He has a large scar over his right eye from where his mother slashed him. It has left him with poor vision on that side.

He's more on the lithe side, but has decent muscle tone due to working out as a form of stress-relief. He likes to go on runs with Karen when he can. He got her into exercise as a way to burn off extra energy.

Vivid red, leading his parents to believe him evil.

He has a hard time connecting to people on an emotional level (hence his demisexuality), from his severely isolated upbringing, and he has bad anxiety the larger a crowd is. He doesn't trust his powers farther than he can spit, and crowds agitate his shadows into coming to life against his will.

He spins his bracelets, rings, or collars when nervous.

His grandfather's wedding ring, which he took with him when he fled his home the second time.

He doesn't believe in any Religion, and has a bit of a phobia against them.

Duncan had a rather rough childhood where he was abused by his parents, emotionally by his father, physically by his mother, for having strange, cursed powers. Their family grew up with a strange belief system and he was often locked in a closet for disobeying their deities, and the spirits, for various things from sassing them, to using his powers in any way.
When he was older, he got a younger sister who was sacrificed by his parents to keep his "demon" in check and he was so horrified, he ran away from home. To his utter disappointment, his parents had called the cops, who had found him and dragged him home.
As a teen, he decided enough was enough after a second sibling was sacrificed and used his powers to take down their home, destroying anything and everything his parents held dear. He was disowned and gladly ran away again, but this time, they didn't chase him.
He managed to worm his way into public education and graduated pretty high in his class.
When he started college, he found a heartbroken Karen and befriended her. After some time, they started dating.

Duncan is currently paving his way through college to become a tattoo shop/piercing parlor owner, all the while keeping his and Karen's relationship within legal bounds, since he's an adult and she's still a minor. Continues to practice using his powers and controlling them so they don't get out of control.

He can turn into shadows, use them to travel between places, or manipulate them like Karen can with her energy into physical items to be used. The darker it is, the stronger he is, as there are more shadows to control.
