Culture

Population

The only real hospital area is located from Falia and onwards towards the northwest. Falia, the capital, is probably the busiest of all cities even with it being desolate and stark.

Falias isn’t known for its large population but is known for its commune-like villages.

Save for Cosmos, and even then, not many people have made the capital their home - even in the past. Falia is nothing more than a castle-state. A towering, decrepit cobblestone castle that looms over the horizon. It can be seen all across Falias and is used as a reference point and a neutral trading ground between all the communes.

Social hierarchy

Hierarchy’s change from one commune/village to another. Each having its own traditions and almost savage-like ceremonies according to outsiders. The only thing ruling supreme and absolute is the monarchy; Cosmos, in particular, has always been popular for what seems to be absolutely no reason. If anything, she’s been the most peaceful sovereign since her grandfather.

Each commune worships a god or goddess in their own representative way, Falias isn’t too keen on uniformity which comes across as strange to outsiders of Falias. On this same note, communes are relatively peaceful towards each other in terms of worshipping mannerisms. All share the same calendar for holidays and treat those days as neutral and temporary truces towards each other.

On that note, every Commune works differently notably:

Some are strictly female and grow in numbers by kidnapping daughters.

Some are just healers and migrate from one commune to another and rely on them for protection until they move onto another commune.

Some are more barbaric in their ways; think orcs.

One commune is so dispersed that they’ve fully integrated other communes in secret and only know of other members by signals.

Every commune has their way of showing respect towards their land. All communes have one thing in common, however. They give thanks and back to the land with voluntary sacrifices. 100% voluntary. The chosen feels blessed.

The only common denominator between communes is that one individual is the appointed representative in Cosmos's court of their beliefs, interpretations, and people. Each representative prospect can challenge the appointed rep for the position. Each commune has their own ways of challenging.

Pop culture

Tattoos. Significantly the most Falias would have in uniformity. Each tattoo given to someone, whether it be visible or not, has a specific meaning. Those whose skin remain pure are generally those “selected” by their gods as their mortal heron onto the physical world.

Music

Traditional scandanavian music though depends on the commune.

Education

Everyone has a basic education. But often-times trades are valued over academics. Masters will take on apprentices and teach them the value and art of their specific trade. Those who seek higher education are encouraged to leave Falias and follow their calling - not many do.

Architecture

Overgrown marbled and cobblestone, lost cities, clear abandonment and waterfalls everywhere. Flooded temples. Even the capital would be desolate and rundown - there’s a slow process of bringing everything back to its former glory. It’s clear, with the precise designs and mechanisms that Falias had once peaked in their technological advancements. Think ancient greek in designs.

Geography

Area

After Findus, Falias is the second largest kingdom. It is, however, the only kingdom that has very little direct borders with its neighbours. Landlocked between sea and mountain ranges, the safest and easiest way to access the kingdom and its capital is through the neighbouring Summer Kingdom, Glorias.

Out of everyone else in Inspira, Falias is the kingdom with the most coastline.
Not much of the land is usable. More than half of the land is populated with dense forests or towering mountains, even some parts of the coast is regarded as dangerous since it's a deep drop off a cliff.

The spring kingdom has natural defenses in forms of mountain ranges and sea cliffs all along the coastal line, especially on the western side of it’s landmass.

Starting from the 12c lateral, Falias experiences more turbulent and unpredictable waters. Moving more north, along the coast, the waters become more peaceful.

Crops

Crop-wise, Falias exports very little. Between treacherous passageways to Findus and Glorias exuberant fees; it kind of seems worthless to trade foraged goods and carrots. What comes out of Falias is expensive and sought after by tradesmen and specialists; items revered for the quality alone. For one, the mountainous regions of northern Falias is home to extremely high quality teas, vanilla beans, and stone. It is rumored that Falias' corroded castle was carved out of a mountain by Dusk's forefather.

Falias is deep-rooted within the arts. Due to each commune's almost bizarre and unique traditions, not much is taught outside their trusted circle. While it may not be a crop, the kingdom exports specialized goods like musical instruments and brushes made of their own odd and bizarre woods. These said instruments are sought after by many masters of the arts. It’s unlikely but not unseen to take on foreign apprentices.

In that regard, Falias isn’t necessarily one of the richest kingdoms.

Climate

Weather ranges differently between the south and north;

North - Predominantly the north of Falias is covered with sprawling thick and dark boreal forests. Very few communes are located in the north. The mountain range that acts as a natural border between Falias and it’s neighbouring kingdom, Findus, making it hard for any unseasoned traveller to pass through and fortifying the north against invaders. But there is a safe passage to access Findus for the little amount of trading (and other Cosmos related things). Or in case of a contingency. Two small but welcoming communes have made their home, however the climate is less than ideal for most. The territory occupied by the two different people is never disputed due to their lateral positions. The most northwestern passage between the two kingdoms is permanently frozen. In terms of generality, summers are temperate but cold and winters can become inhospitable and desolate.

South - The majority of Falias’ small population resides northwest of Falia, where temperatures can be extreme to mild in both winter and summer. The south’s climate can be unpredictable and moody within the most inner part of the south however that, once again, changes the closer you get towards the coastal line. The variations are milder from the warm winds coming from the south so the summers are hotter and the winters are much milder. The people of southern Falias rely on the thick deciduous woods and forests to keep cool and fortunately for them; it’s covered by tall ageless trees.

Overall - Falias is covered in trees. One way or another. Temperatures are fucking unpredictable and might be out to kill you. Not a nice place to invade. -2/10 wouldn’t recommend it. Also screw the people located in Falias’ equivalent of Alaska and that little random passageway in the middle of two mountain ranges. Don’t know what they did to deserve this but they do somehow. South is equally as shitty as north. I wouldn’t live here, don’t think you should as well.

History

Founding story

Rumour has it that a giant mountain once stood where Falia Castle stands. Lux, a southern spring elf, was said to have carved the castle from the mountain to prove to a northern spring elf that he was worthy of her and prove that he could give her what no one else could.

King Lux and Queen Tenebrae then joined all the communes together and named Falias their land; claiming it as their own to govern and protect.

The two were said, with the aid of the communes, to have grown the wilds separating and protecting them from Gorias.

The two later died leaving behind a dynasty through their only son: Dusk.

He was crowned King soon after his parents death. He remained childless for centuries.

Dusk would try to invade and expand Falias towards the east into Gorias as well as tentatively north and into Findus. With the help of the communes, he would warp their sense of duty and honor towards the sovereign - thinking that his methods were for the good of Falias, some followed.

After many failed attempts, and losing the respect of his people, Dusk would lock himself in Falia Castle for many years.

After reemerging into the public’s eye, King Dusk set to marry a noblewoman from Gorias to strike an official truce between the two kingdoms.

Queen Dawn, years after their marriage, would announce her pregnancy with twins Nebula and Cosmos.

After their birth, Dusk set out to regain his people’s trust. Ultimately, he fails and forces the communes to bend to his will. Falias, once again, was ruled by a very present tyrant.

A decade or so passes before the communes have more than enough of the tyrant’s rule. Civil unrest and wars between communes are more common than not and during this time, the great capital is left for ruin. Those who had made their home, mostly servants for the royal family, migrated out west. Those who served under Dusk became known as the drifters. A happy and peaceful commune who live a nomadic life in hopes to help the other communes whenever possible.

Falias as a whole, by this time, became almost sparse with population. It was a dying kingdom and the only thing going for them was the natural protection from the mountains up north, the sea cliffs on the coast, and the dark woods separating Gorias and Falias. If it weren’t for it; Falias wouldn’t have survived as a kingdom.

Queen Dawn, after dealing with her husband for far too long, tried her best to quell her husband’s ideologies and anger but ended up leaving her husband and children, returning to Gorias.

Once again, Dusk enters a sort of dormant and silent phase; tucked away into his castle and leaving the twins to do almost as they wished. Nebula took this moment of temporary weakness and staged a coup; stealing the crown right from his father and claiming himself as the new king of Falias. His rightful place.

He too would become a tyrant, most claim even worse than Dusk. He, unlike his father, would never retreat back into the castle. He would ally up the orc communes, something his father had failed to achieve, and make them his army. The other communes would fear Nebula and would bow to his every will.

Fearing for her own life, Cosmos flees to Findus with the most northern communes. She wouldn’t return until many years later to dethrown her brother with the help of Gorias, her mother’s home as well as unite the communes once again.

Against everyone’s wish, her brother is allowed to continue living and is imprisoned in Gorias instead of Falias.

Forward a few years later, after what feels like the longest peaceful time in Falias, Falias is invaded by Gorias with the help of her brother. He had managed to convince whomever he needed to convince that Cosmos was nothing more than a Findus sympathizer after her refusal to help banish Celyn for… lord knows what now. He had also fed them that she had used them and would betray them at the first chance she got.

Cosmos and the communes take the hostile take-over badly but would eventually bend their will to Nebula and friends, unhappily. In exchange for making sure Falias remains as its own and not become occupied territory by Gorias, Cosmos has agreed to being banished along with part of her court. She also stated that the communes should remain as they are, traditions need to be kept.

Cosmos was banished to the isle of lore; Falias falling once again under Nebula’s rule.

As of right now, all that is known is that Nebula has taken a queen and had a son. As much as Cosmos is aware, her wishes have been met minus Gorias being part of Falias politics and enforcing Nebula’s regime.

Falias is currently not a good place to be in.

Established year

Ancient times

Notable wars

Inner Falias power struggles, constantly: notable ones are Dusk vs Nebula, Cosmos vs Nebula, and Nebula vs Cosmos.

During Dusk’s ruling, he continuously tried to invade (and fail) winter and summer. Not at the same time. That would be stupid.
